Well spotted kill_audio, so she's in trouble then, maybe we send her similarly encrypted messages?

Just noticed the capitals myself, Paradoxic we have already discussed what you have raised about the commas in this thread. We believe its an anagram.

Right, took me a while but I got a reply off:
Quote:
Hey zoe Smile
how are you doing? i've got a load of work to do as well, Over at the maths department is absolute hell! Well, to answer your question, one of my friends gave me a link to your blog, i don't know how he got it though. Could email him i suppose...
Anyways, you were talking about your essay, what is it that you study exactly. you've probably established that i'm a mathmo from the department comment, but i also used to study physics as well, and am rather interested in further dimensions, but do not know enough about them really - do you have any info on them? Never mind if you dont...
I was also wondering about that photo, where was it a picture of? Here i do some photography, although nothing terribly good. got some good pictures from holiday a few weeks ago though, i'll give you the link to my blog if you want? Everyone here at uni has a blog, it's kind of manditory at my uni...
sorry about the length of this email, only one question left - what sort of music are you into? my dad recorded a load of pink floyd LPs onto cd a couple of weeks ago and i've been really getting into them... what's your poison so to speak?

anyway, speak to you soon

Nicely done, and you guys made the capitalisation so naturalistic, it's pretty much invisible Very Happy
I really should have picked up on that though - normally I'm pretty anal about people getting thier spelling and grammar right and get all shouty when it's wrong - I've even stopped shopping at places because of misplaced apostrophes (I figure if it's a major retail chain they should be able to afford an ad-man who knows English). Maybe I need help Confused

aaanyway - there's still the random number thing (I'd swear it looks kinda familiar but I've no idea where from). Jeb - it's not in any number pattern you know of is it? Being a mathmo 'nall?

BTW, the Mathmos is a lake that feeds on evil in the film Barberaella. Just a random bit of trivia for you there Razz

Just to remind anyone that'd forgotten (read: to remind me) the random numbers were:

Quote:
3453
2006
3905
4236
8056

Jeb

edit: also, just noticed your sig kill_audio - memento Very Happy awesome film!

Right, re: the numbers, I've looked at them and got nothing out so far, but I thought I'd post here so you don't all try as well:

* Prime factors:

3453=3*1151
2006=2*17*59
3905=5*11*71
4236=2*2*3*353
8056=2*2*2*19*53

Nothing obvious there

* Sum of rows and columns:

r1=15, r2=8, r3=17, r4=15, r5=19
c1=20, c2=15, c3=13, c4=25

Again, nothing obvious.

* Binary conversion:

Tried direct transfer to binary then decode using online tools (8-bit ascii), nothing came up reading in either rows or columns...

Any other ideas?

Jeb

PS. I think we may just be best to wait til we get a reply from Zoe?

Probably, but I can't sleep and I need something to do to while away the midnight hours that isn't doing my web design coursework Smile

Meh, it makes me happy... and frustrated. But mainly happy

I tried some of that too, was just about to post the lack of resultage. Spillting them into thier component digits and playing (though not in a hugely mathematically experienced way (I do computing so I don't have to do maths Smile) didn't seem to do anything either, though I am still exploring that one - don't expect anything really though.

lol! Me too; I was going to compliment you on your excellent taste in music Cool

Now we just have to hope the PM spots the code. He/she/it really should, but you never know...

Bah, if only I could remember what on earth a prime factor was, then I'd add them all up and try that.

Is it 21656 = 2x2x2x2707? Doesn't look too good but then it's very likely that it's nonsense. Now no-one can say I didn't try though. Maths hurt me :S

Actually, I've never understood what one is supposed to do with a prime factor when you have it. Presumably one must use them on something else to get an answer?

Right, prime factors... They're the smallest numbers that you can multiply stuff together by to get a number, and there is only one way of writing a number in terms of its prime factors (by the fundamental theorem of arithmetic, as it is known). e.g. 4=2*2, 6=2*3, 16=2*2*2*2, 17=17 (as 17 is prime, only factors are 1 and itself).

The use of these is to find whether there was any common divisor in the set of numbers (eg, they're all divisible by 13 or something), and also to see whether the numbers are anything special (like 2*2*2*2*2*2*2*2*2*3 or something) and whether there could be a code held in that. As it happens, they just appear to be numbers.

Meh

I'm sure people have noticed the cut off text that appears under the 100% about half way through the flash animation. Enlarging it and isolating it I ended up with what looks like the top of some letters.

Below is my modified image, the red line indicates the cutoff of the frame. Comparing to the other letters used in the flash animation, the diagonally cut tops are definitely lowercase t, the shape following them appear to be the dot on i or j. The curve matches the top of a lower case f and the last line can be the top of any verticle letter (l, h, d, b, k) or possibly an ' or !. I don't know what use it will be, but here you go.

yeah, i noticed it, but i dont know if anyone can like decode the flash or something and find in the code what that says? Meh, I don't know enough about flash tbh...

Ok I have decompiled it and all it says is 100% "Satisfaction!".

Ok i have looked at every object in the flash and we have covered everything except that the writing on the monitor says FORM'A which im just guessing is a standard pic for a monitor when creating a flash.

Could "satisfaction!" be a password to something? Or maybe they're just not very good at flash?

I would guess it wasnt intended to be cut off, but i could be wrong.

I think we have pretty much ripped as much out of the site as we can at present and just need to recap on what we have.
