yeah i know that and i thought we had decide the same for the 24 digit number(that it was meaningless)... although i do like what erekose said about seti using basic math that makes the 24 digit number sound plossable to me, before i read his post i would have sworn it was a coincidence... anyway i was disapointed to see some one bring up the rplexci... i'm hopeing that dopefiend ment it as a sick joke.

Regarding the images possibly having info steganographically hidden in them, I ran StegDetect on them both and I'm getting the following results:
abbey1.jpg gives a 1 star positive result for JPHide at a sensitivity of 1.3, and this gets more stars with only slight increases in sensitivity.
abbey2.jpg gives a 1 star positive result for JPHide at a sensitivity of 1.5, and again this gets more stars with only slight increases in sensitivity.
Both of these results are quite encouraging - this is a pretty low sensitivity value. I'll give StegBreak and JPHide a go when I get home, but if anyone wants to try them before then that'd be cool.

I'm starting to hate my picture being at the top of the Scarlett Kite page, everytime I look at it at work, I see myself waving back at me. Hopefully they update it today and bump me down a bit.

Who's the guy in the background doing the "I don't want to be in these photos really, so I'll just lurk in the background of both of them?"

I thought it was the man in the gaberdine suit ? Just be careful, his bowtie is really a camera. Who is the woman in red?

Hmmmm, well, perhaps this is exactly the sort of paranoid delusion that I'm so keen to warn others of, but I'm becoming more convinced that those images might contain some sort of stegged info.
I've been playing around with JPHide and a positive result at a sensitivity of 1.3 seems quite unlikely to be a false positive. Plus, the images have been at the top of Scarlett's blog for quite a while now - perhaps they're waiting for us to find something.
Anyway, I've not found a password with StegBreak yet. I'm using the standard rules.ini file that comes with it (converts stuff to different cases, etc.) and the word list I've been using is here . Anyone see any obvious words I've missed?

Seej,
maybe you want to try things relating to the photo and us, like Reason, Beano etc as they're in the photos, or perhaps Cubists, Earthlings etc. If it's Scarlett's steg it's also bound to be something cutesy!

I was just looking at the pictures and was a bit confused. There is a guy wearing sunglasses and an over the shoulder bag in the background of both pics. Maybe its just the picture but I can't remember who it was?

hmm...geofortean asked the same question a couple of days back, and never got an answer. its interesting actually, i'm sure that Dinah took alot more than 2 pics, so why was it these two specifically that were picked for displaying on her blog?!? (apart from the obvious hunkiness of the ARGers that we do know about ) could it be that somehow we are meant to track this guy down and get more info from him? if so, how would we possibly go about doing that?
if it is someone here, please identify yourselves! i feel a Wanted poster coming on.... "Do you recognise this man? Reward offered"

I don't remember that guy either. He could just have been a random guy crossing the road at that time.
Or maybe he knows where the cube is...

Well, I've stuck everyone's names in there and a few other things as well, but still no joy. I could always try a ready-made word-list off some shady FTP site but a)that probably wouldn't have any ppc-specific words and b)brute-force is so inelegant (and against the rules).
Anyways, the updated list I'm using is online if anyone wants a look . Gonna give this some more thought over the next few days before I give in.
