I got my third reply back from Simon:

Quote:
Heh. It's a lot more than an erector set, and I know exactly
where it came
from. It came from my good friend Timothy Cohen, who promised several
of us a
quite a lot of we helped sever this so called "lifeline."

Too bad you, way down below there, can't do anything but watch
your world
burn down around you. You should have taken better care of us, Earth.
You
shouldn't have made us think that flying up to this ball of dust was
better than staying
down there in your filth.

But, hey. I'll be rich and powerful and... you'll be dead. We win,
you lose.

Enjoy your last few weeks before the canisters get to you.

Crying or Very sad Simon, I thought we shared something there... Crying or Very sad

Latest from Simon

Quote:
Oh, a berk, am I? Well, you're brown bread. Call me any names you want.
What do I care?

I'll tell you what there's to be king of: we will be the kings of the last of
humanity: the brilliant outcasts you don't want down there. We will survive and
you won't. The base on Mars is almost done, and we've figured out how to
grow some animals that'll be able to survive outside. We'll eat those, we'll
grow vegetables on the inside, and we'll be fine. We don't need you anymore. We
will grow strong and no one will ever remember that fucking sad place we came
from.

Yeah, we've been planning this a while. You think Tim was going to take his
exile into space lightly? His family, in charge of that "American Internet
Broadcast" group, can't stand him so they throw him up into space. Same with
me. Same as the other "trash." You think we wouldn't revolt? Well it's you
that'll pay. Tim started talking to me and some others soon as we came up.
Miners, mostly. Eaton too but he thought he could say forget about it and get
away. Well, he did go away, that's for sure. As far as that "gate"
goes... well, if they want to talk to us they can. We'll talk. We can play
nice. If they think they can fuck us up we'll just turn that big gun right
around and shoot 'em up.

As far as the first line goes - Brown Bread = Dead. You can look berk up yourself (and yes, I did call him that!)

It provides an answer to the food issue (and I guess, what the experiments on monkeys were all about)

And speccing - Their plans for Mars make me even more sure that this isn't quite what it seems - I think this ISN'T the Merzkeen War, but that this is a big coincidence. In fact, I think the Merzkeen already live on Mars, and Tim's plans to take it over will not be going down well with them. As evidence, I refer you to the email that started it all

Quote:
I walk through the plastic halls. I see you on your blue planet so far away. Your whispers, once a week bursts, tell me you think my home is your salvation.

Rejoice! Rejoice! You will use us, downtrodden miners and sterile scientists, as a stepping stone to the great beyond.

You don't see us as people at all. You should be ashamed.

And also, Charlies comments about Mars

Quote:
We saw the red planet in our future; we knew we could hide here, away from the star people and their tests and their punishments

Anyway - enough for now. Got to crack that code! Very Happy

I just received my (fourth) email from Simon too:

Quote:
You know what I thought? I thought you were a really great mark. Thanks
for
feeding me information. We wouldn't have known about Jacob and that
"gate" without you. Way to go! He might have opened it before we knew
what was
going on.

Didn't mommy ever tell you not to trust strangers?

Jacob was a fool, an outcast among outcasts. That idiot was going to
get us
killed, one way or another, and if we don't decide to blow that gate
after
earth, we'll deal with him when he comes back. I'll deal with him...
personally.

As to what "good" it will do to get rid of Earth: The strong destroys
the weak.
If it doesn't, the weak drags the strong down. If humanity is going to
meet the wider universe with that gate, don't you think we should put
our
best foot forward?

We're just cutting away the cancer.

Laughing This made me laugh...
He said I fed him information but I'll I really said is that we had reason to believe Jacob Jones was alive and I never even mentioned the "gate"... maybe it was all my fault, lol, oops! Bang Head

...and yes. my mommy did teach me not to trust strangers... Very Happy
