Well, we've already solved a puzzle - great! Now what the hell should we do with it? Anybody check their snailmail yet?

I wonder what inbetween those lines that we're supposed to read :)

Actually, it's almost certainly the same optical illusion recently used as an album cover by Soulwax ("Any Minute Now" on vinyl). The lines have miniscule changes in thickness where they intersect with a chosen piece of text. The text itself is visible only when you move the card through your periferal vision - it's a neat effect and maddening to read.

how kind of the guardian to host the pictures.

this is what bruce was talking about. lean back or look at it from far away, will be easier to read.

MY EYES!

I wouldn't reccomend one doing that with just a really bad computer display. I can barely focus now.... Shocked Silly

I think I can make out a "B" in the Firebox one, but then it might just as easily not be.

I agree, that's a B. Any idea what the top of that card says? I get R......Lines. Is there a name for this type of optical illusion?

Perfect! That's the CD's cover - the vinyl album was parallel lines. I'm not sure how to do them well on a PC but here's my attempt at a demonstration:

I've just looked at the source code for the 403 error. Don't know what I'm looking at really though.

Edit. Source code removed - thanks for the answer

On the one hand, I'm a little cynical of the need to spend at least £70 to complete the set, especially as the random nature implies it'll be much more.

On the other hand, I so want those cards!

On the source code; Looks like standard 404 error page from a Windows based web server. Code is similar on our intranet site when I punch up an invalid URL, and we run IIS

Where did all that come from?!
When I type perplexcityacademy.com into my browser all I get in the source is:
Quote:
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//IETF//DTD HTML 2.0//EN">
<html><head>
<title>403 Forbidden</title>
</head><body>
<h1>Forbidden</h1>
<p>You don't have permission to access /
on this server.</p>
</body></html>

Which seems reasonable for a 403 error to me, as near as I can tell.

The huge source that was listed is an IE 'Friendly Error Message' generated by the browser in response to a server error page. They're as annoying as all hell.

That's what you get in Firefox, IE has the far more complicated version.

Oh I see.
Well, IE would make things complicated, wouldn't it. Wink
Edit: Never mind
