How do you know minimum wage is going to go up? That would be good (I haven't heard of that anywhere though)
This is getting way off topic eh?

Topic? What topic? Oh, that topic, the one at the top. Ironically, I do not have a parcel, so I could never really be on topic in this thread. Hence I will stop posting so much and get on with something constructive. Maybe.

I'm sure this is nothing, but I haven't seen it mentioned so i thought i'd post it.
In the top-right corner of my '24 Hours in Perplex City' Map, next to where it says 'Perplex City Tourist Information', I have the number 268.
Does this number mean anything to anyone? Is it the same as everyone elses or are they unique?
I think it's just the Perplex City AC year. It's repeated on the inside along the side of the How To Find Us page next to a copyright symbol.

I find the whole idea of selling cards to pay for the game really interesting. There are tons of websites out there that give away content and live off of advertising and swag. I'm actually a little surpised I can't be a PPC t-shirt or hat of some sort. I'm pretty sure I'd buy a "PCA Varsity Puzzle Team" shirt, or a PPC-Sentinel promo-style shirt or hat, etc. Hell, if I didn't know it was blatent copyright infringement, I'd make the shirts up and sell them myself. I'd just take pre-orders before I make any shirts up so I'm not left with a huge stock of product I can't sell (/me waves to PM's reading the forums ;-] ).
I was going to write more, but there's a better thread for me to post in.

That's the strange thing. I bet if this was a PPC shirt or hat people would have no problem But they start charging for cards (which are not only mementos but also useful for the game) and everyone starts complaining.

as long as the cards aren't the whole game ...i think thats the
problem
reason people are complaining

We don't know that the cards are the whole game.
We really don't know much of anything at this point other than that the cards exist, and they will be sold.

The problem is of course the rules make it sound like the cards are everything.
While I realize the scope of the project implies there's a lot more than just card collecting, I only know this because I've been following this thing since it started as Project Syzygy (even sent an application to help, but no dice). For a player whose initial exposure to this game is the cards, a certain amount of trepidation is perfectly understandable.

[sTatiK] i didnt get a parcel, entered afew mins late
obviously loads of us are gonna buy cards, and there will be differnt selections of cards so that we can trade. so i wanna know how are we gonna trade cards? i know its a little bit erli but ime excited! hehe
do ppl think we should all meet up (sorry ppl outside UK) or are we gonna post to eachother? ...perhaps, cos of the international thing, we should do it online? but that would be more sharing than trading....
aaahh! my mind is buzzing!

I don't think we need to trade. If we can just get at least one of each card on the site to work through then we'll have all the information there is. If people want to solve them first to gain the points then that's up to them.

That's possible.. that way even if you use internet solves you'd need to buy the cards.

ooo they better not do that. i think the general feeling about the cards here can be summed up into a few types of people.
1) "you mean you have to buy cards because i didnt get a parcel? i'm out of here"
2) "these cards are pretty cool, i cant wait to buy some"
3) "this looks too competitive... but hopefully we can make it a team effort" aka "this might ruin one of the leading ARG factors"
4)"cards?..... hm...."
but if they take away it being at all cooperative, we could have some trouble here. no one here on uf is solely in it for the money, and some like me dont care about the reward at all. making it a individual game where YOU yourself have to buy cards YOU solve them (at risk of others stealing your 'points') is what isnt appealing to me at all.
did that make sense? my thinking is a little off today
p.s. of course i forgot one category, the ones that are still stuck on
"OMG £100,000!!!!! THIS GAME IS HUGE!!!"
