[META] It all begins with AADAA...

I think we should start to seriously consider the possibility that the cards are AADAA. Here are some points to mull over:

1. Is there a big enough market for these cards?
2. How does the system deal with the fact that people will share the answers?
3. Trading cards have always been open to abuse in the retail chain, what's to stop someone stealing a box and scanning the whole lot?
4. Revealing the 'product' so early in an ARG seems counterproductive.
5. As Dinah said "It all begins with AADAA..."

I'm not saying that the cards are a red herring for sure, just that we should entertain that thought while going over it.

I'm also hoping that the trading cards are one big mind-screw.

Maybe the leaderboard site will get 'hacked' by cubists who don't appreciate Sente's game. ("Our sacred cube?! On a trading card game?!?!")

BTW, what does AADAA stand for?

AADAA is the first codeblock for a cipher that tuned out to be a pseudorandom stream of letters from the book Cryptonomicon by Neil Stephenson.

I hereby recommend that book to you Smile

AADAA is a crypto reference to something meant to be meaningless. Put there to confuse you, IIRC. It now means that it's subject is irrelevant.

with regards to point number 3, i dont think the cards will be sold in actual physical retail outlets just because, frankly, i'm unsure how big the market would be for them. i think they will just be sold online at a few sites similar to firebox (and possibly perplexcity.com itself?), thus elminating the possiblity of someone stealing whole boxes of them.

nice spec though, i'd like to hope it turns out to be true Very Happy

i think it would also be good to sell bulk packs at a lower cost
like 15 paks for 20

or i'm just cheep and broke

and starter kits like the ones sent out with the maps and all

going by the scan of the firebox catalogue, i think they are going to be sold in bulk because firebox is advertising them as 4 packs for £9.95, although this could be at the discretion of the retailer.

these have prototype card group 333 all over them. I seriously doubt they will use these cards in the game. I think these are more giving an example than a starter kit

I really hope this turn's out to be fake also becuase I really don't want a card game from all of the hype that has been building for this game over the last year.
