[QUESTION] How much money will you spend on cards? Just interested to find out opinion on spending money to play the game.
The new count is 219 cards at the most, at £2.50 per six cards makes around £92.50. That's a lot of money for some.
So who amongst us is going to try and collect the whole set, and who are just going to wait until someone scans them in, or something in-between?
Me, I'll buy a couple of sets to start out to see how I get along. If I find out there's something productive to doing so, I might keep going.

Don't forget there isn't an equal chance of getting each card - their graded from common to rare (and easy to hard).
Saying that, I'll be buying and sharing, as per the ARG way

Guess I'm lucky living with a fellow ARGer that we could split to cost. I'll still be posting them up too

Should we set up some sort of site that it would be easy to upload the images of the cards to, with some sort of search by number / by solve status thing? (Jeb gets out his webdesign hat...)

hmm yeah, but with better design than the wiki (I don't know enough about the wiki as to whether you can upload webpage designs to it?)
I was thinking a massive flash extravaganza with bells and whistles and sheep.

i agree with jeb. we need more sheep.
and, wiki aside, if someone actually wanted to create a gorgeous site with all the cards on it, a way to upload new cards, and places for comments and discussion about cards, well, i wouldn't complain.

That would actually be quite easy to do, and I could throw something together fairly quickly (or we could use the gallery), but an idea came up in conversation a short while ago. Maybe someone who actually has cards in their possession can answer this. Is there any sort of copyright notice on the cards or packaging? Posting one-off photos/scans hidden in a forum thread is one thing and might fall into the grey area of "fair use," but actually having a complete set of cards easily available in one place is a much more black-and-white legal situation.

Oh, I should have also asked how many people actually want to collect the cards and go for a full set. I'd certainly be interested in trying so for a little memento. And I hope I'm not a sucker for saying that.

unless someone is going to do a good looking site for the cards to categorize (go for it!), i think the wiki will work. dont go to the gallery to look at them though, go to the cards section . just added thumbnail pictures to each card page, so it will suffice.... until we get 100 cards or so... then we may need something more.
also... an unsolved list would be nice for people who want to take a break from trying to keep up with solves.
pertaining to the topic... as of now i'm only going to buy one or two packs at the most... i may end up not getting any because it may be hard for me to order off the internet.

Nope - nothing at all on the cards but there is "(c) 268 Perplex City Tourist Information Centre" on the Tour Guide. Can you be sued from another reality?

My guess is that the real cards will have copyright notices on them though, making this whole thing a tad dodgy...
Hmm...

I think the cards instruct us to share and distribute - I would have no problems with doing so on a website unless PC sent me a 'cease and desist' letter - then I would stop.
I think the Wiki is the most obvious, and also, the best place to put stuff. Having 1 authoratative source for information means we will all refer to the same thing when we discuss. For some people a wiki can be intimidating. There's a lot of information there, and all structured quite nicely - one just has to find it and then bookmark it for later reference.
I think we can amass the entire collection for free. Then, if anyone needs to access the images they will always be available. Just my two cents

POTUS - agreed. We'll put the stuff on unless they specifically tell us not to. Also, when the game gets started proper, could a mod put a link to the card collection on the list of forums (next to the Wiki and Primer, etc?)

the wiki is great for organizing the cards for reference. but i just realized this morning that if we have over 200 different cards... having them all in the same forum will be a little hard to keep up on. but the only suggestion i can think of for this would be to make sub forums for each color.. but i dont know if this is even possible or if it would make things much better.
