Oh, don't worry; I'm pretty sure there aren't any non-Halo-Playing ILB'ers left.

Update

Sorry that I have been MIA for a bit. Hopefully it is not too late to add in on Friday nights dinner. For that matter count me in on any events that we plan to do, unless the group splits up for multiple option, at which point you can only count me for one of them Very Happy

I am flying in Thursday evening and back out early Sunday morning, too early for any Sunday events Crying or Very sad . I decided to stay at the same hotel I stayed in for the training event, so I will be at Candlewood Suites (just a block or so from the Lowes where the training event was held.) This is a little out of the way, but there is easy CTA transport back and forth.

Are any of the events we have planned something that I need to make arrangements in advance? For example, with no real theatre life in Knoxville, I don't know if 30 last minute tickets to Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind will be hard to get or not.

As I indicated on the website (and if you go to the Neofuturists' website), you'll see that there are NO advance tickets to be had. Ya gotta stand in line and get a token at the door to gain entrance. Smile

So, last-minute is what they do, which is one of the reasons I suggested them as an event.

Tra la!

Blasphemy! Blasphemy!

I'm fairly certain I'll come to the Friday night dinner.

Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Ugh... invasion of the comment spam.

This is sort of a topical question. To anybody who has investigated Chicago transit:

I'm gonna be in Chicago for a conference in June (coincidentally the reason I cannot afford to attend the Hivemeet). I can fly to either airport (Midway or O'HarE) pretty cheaply. I know each one has trains to downtown, but was wondering if either was any better for convenience.

Spam deleted!

As far as trains, they're both about the same time/distance from downtown, so it really doesn't matter! You can use the trip planner at the CTA website:

http://www.transitchicago.com -- that'll give you a time estimate for any trip you plug in.

Wooty woot.

Is there anyone going to this from the Detroit region?

My ride's car, through a series of misunderstandings, no longer has a seat for me, leaving me the unenviable option of riding with the luggage. With that in mind If anyone from around here is planning on attending the Anime Central convention, I'd be quite willing to hitch a ride, as that's where I'm staying.

I can't help you with a lift, Uber, but I do know that return train fare from Detroit to Chicago is $46 for coach. (I have to transfer from VIA to Amtrak in Detroit.) It's not too bad compared with gas money for going solo. Let alone parking...

I'll be at the station (11 West Baltimore) Thursday afternoon for the 5:13 train if you want to meet up there.

-- Steve suddenly realises that this post sounds like a passage from a bad Cold War spy novel. (Psst: the recognition sign is, "One Point One". The countersign is, "Apocalypso". )

PS: because I gotta for the whole "Cold War" feel:

An update on my situation. I just booked a room for Friday night, using hotwire.

I'll stay on the Hilton Chicago and Towers. Price was $95 (116 after taxes). If anyone wants to book this hotel, go to hotwire.com and search Chicago Loop hotels. It's the 4* that has these amenities: Restaurant, Pool, Fitness and Business Center. This price is only for Friday night. If you try to book it for Friday and Saturday night, it'll cost a lot more!

I'll book another hotel for Saturday night. Something closer to the airport, where it's much cheaper, around $40-55. I'll post here after I book this other hotel, in case anyone is interested ...

That's a really good price... only $15 more (after taxes) than what I got for a 2.5* in the same area.

Hotwire's looking pretty good.

-- Steve's only mildly jealous though... the trip looks busy enough that the hotel room will just be a place to sleep.
