Oh, you're right! It's actually a waste to pay for a 4* hotel for this trip ... But it was the cheapest downtown hotel I could get. It just happened to be 4* ...

Hotel choosin'

Okay, I'm going to make my reservation today. I AM from detroit, so I -may- be able to provide a ride. This depends on whether my girlfriend is or is not going, since I have a measly S-10 pickup.

My choices:

Hilton Chicago and Towers - $95, chicago loop through hotwire.com (thanks waters!)

Hyatt Regency O'Hare - $129 through priceline, $124 if you're with the anime convention.

Now, I don't really care where I'm staying (I'm not going to the anime con), all I want is a convenient location, and preferably a place where other beekeepers are staying.

Do y'all want to shout out with where you'll be staying for the weekend? Smile

As stated earlier, myself and a bunch of beekeepers are gonna be cramed into my hotel room at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare. I think total there's gonna be about 5 of us at any given time in our room. Plus I think there are a few other Beekeepers staying at that hotel.

MAPS, HOTELS, and MORE!

NOTE NOTE NOTE: The Hyatt listed here through hyatt.com is the ROSEMONT, not the Regency O'Hare, which is the Anime Convention. The Regency, according to their website, is sold out, though this may not apply to convention-goers. 866-349-3607 for details from hyatt.

NOTE #2 - Anime Convention rooms are STILL AVAILABLE at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare. I just called. I still haven't bought a room yet *grin*

Okay guys, for your edification pleasure I present! *trumpets please*

Information about hotels, as well as a visual guide!
I included those things I could reasonably sleuth out. For instance, no need to creepy krystyn out by figuring out where she lives and putting it on a public forum, and I don't know where the pub is that she suggests people may want to karaoke at.

Use these maps however you like, print them out, put GPS coordinates of payphones upon them, whatever!

Just remember: For a quality experience, the beekeepers have to be real.

I just booked my second hotel room, for Saturday night.

I'll stay in the Crowne Plaza close to the O'Hare.

I used Priceline to book it. It was my first time with Priceline. It works a bit different than hotwire. You have to determine the area, the price and the star-rating you're willing to pay. If they find a hotel with the price you asked, they will charge you right there and show you the hotel you'll stay.

I put O'Hare, 3* and $40 as my starting bid and I got this hotel. Final price with taxes included is $53 bucks. I'm pretty happy with the price and everything. It could be in downtown, but can't really complain.

It's a very good price! If anyone decides to use priceline, I suggest you offer $35! If they don't accept your offer, you can then go ahead and offer $40 ... I'm telling you this, because I offered $40 and they accepted it right away ... I think I overbid a bit ... Crying or Very sad Oh, and you can try 2* and 2.5*, which should be fine!

EDIT: Just checking Google Maps and now I see I'll stay very close to the Hyatt O'hare! Google maps shows 0.3 miles from there! Cool

Holy crap!

40 dollars for a 3 star! jumpin' jehosephat, I think I paid more than that to stay at a Super 8, 20 miles from town!

*runs to priceline*

EDIT: Alas, I got Wyndham O'hare. After all that finagling, I'm probably the only beekeeper there. *smirks* *super mario death music plays* *laughs* I guess it really doesn't matter, except for carpooling situations. It looks like thsi pretty much confirms that I'll be taking the truck and not the train.

I put in 35, and it did not accept, said I could resubmit if I increased the sum by 9 dollars, but if I wanted to submit for less than that, I had to change some options. I put in 44, and got the wyndham.

Let me tell you that trying to mapquest anything in that zip code is like pulling teeth, though. It's constantly trying to correct me with some other city. Bleh!

Also, I can't complain at 108 bucks after tax for two nights.

Hey everyone:

I know it's getting a bit close, but the friend I was planning on driving to Chicago with (and also the one who had a place to STAY in Chicago) has bailed on me, so is there anyone who'd be willing to share their hotel room with an web-centric 16-year old guy? I can't make any promises (have to sell this new plan to the 'rents, too), but if it works out I'd be happy to contribute... something... to the cost of a room.

But you know... it'd be cool if there was any room with someone who isn't... creeeepy. Razz

Anyone who wants to contact me separately, find out who the heck I am or things like that, send one over to my gmail account: the name is karlkarlbobarl... at... well, you know the rest.
