Dear Sunny,

Iris was ransacking the house in her search for the mask and I just didn't want to take a chance on her finding it. So, I sent James with a few bodyguards to Take it over to Sam. Sam called as soon as he got it and said there was no way that he wanted to have it in his possession longer than necessary. He's willing to deliver it, if he can, but he's sending it back now.

With Iris so distraught, I can't possibly leave her. I will be sending Sam or
one of the security men to deliver it. I don't know which yet. Barbara has
suggested taking a train and meeting her in Manhattan. Amanda is ready to drive anywhere between New York City and Burlington. I don't think Sam has the time to take a trip to the Big Apple or go far up the highway. I haven't heard from the others you mentioned and don't know where they are. Isn't there anyone who lives nearby?! I just don't know what to do. Perhaps, I should just write their names on slips of paper and have Chris pick one. I do need to hear from the other people, of course. We will need to be in contact to arrange the delivery with whoever gets selected.

I still haven't heard from Pam and I am terribly worried about her. I don't
want to endanger anyone else. Maybe the mask becomes merely a beautiful object once it is out of Aglaura's atmosphere – and maybe it doesn't. The stone hasn't bothered you so these things may lose their power when they are away from the epicenter of their creation. I hope that is the case.

I am having a very difficult time thinking calmly and rationally about this.
Iris alternates between raging anger and pitiful weeping and thinks we are all being quite unreasonable. She is not being herself at all and I trust James and Chris' opinions since they have known her longer than I have. I empathize with her completely; you must remember how insane I felt after losing the manuscript page and the painting. But, I'm so glad now their hold on me was broken. However much jealousy or greed may have motivated Douglas, he did me a favor by getting those things away from me. I must do the same for Iris even if she ends up hating me for it. At least, she doesn't hate me yet. When she goes on her crying jags, she comes to me and I hold her, stroke her head and tell her, I really understand.

 		I wrote and told her to pick one of us and a small delegation would probably come to pick it up.
