While I would be surprised if they were just HANDING THEM OUT, you can get to go with an industry invite... something you failed to mention.

Therfore, they can give them to "randoms" as you put it. However, if this is like most tradeshows; each company only receives a limited number of "invites". Usually to the tune of 4-8. So theoretically, they could reward people with one of their precious invites.
