Email from Bruce - Tracie may have been rescued

Last night in chat we wondered about what had been going on with Bruce
& Angie - I hadn't heard from him in 2 weeks, and since Pam has been
AWOL, we haven't gotten any gossip from Angie. So I fired off an email
last night and found a reply this morning.

Heather:

Sorry for the silence -- but I've actually been helping out the good
guys. By the time you read this, Tracie Schmidt should be free -- and
I've played a part (albeit a modest one) in making that happen.

A couple of weeks back, Dale contacted me about Ms. Schmidt's
disappearance. He told me that she'd gone missing after that horrible
day in the Barrens when Sal and that lawyer were killed, but that he'd
had mail from the Don that made it pretty clear that Tracie was an
unwilling guest of the Marzanos. Dale asked me to use what was left of my business relationships with the family to learn what I could. I thought
about talking to my new friend Marco, but decided this was not the sort of job they'd entrust to him. This was something to be kept very quiet -- and that means Frank. And since Frank spends a good amount of time around Empty Threats, that meant asking Angie to keep an eye out for anything out of the ordinary.

SUre enough, within a few days Angie calls back. Seems Frank has been
either taking away food from the restaurant or calling in orders every
night for a couple of weeks. She wrote it off at first as some new
mistress -- but with my comments as incentive, she checked closer, and found out that the address for the orders that were sent out wasn't a home, but a warehouse that the Marzano's own on the other side of Hackensack. Well, it turns out that Angie has to go there from time to time to pick up supplies for ET -- so a week ago Monday, she left the back entrance open, and I snuck six cases of napkins away in the trunk
of my car, leaving her with a proper 'emergency' resupply situation to
take care of the next day.

She shows up at the warehouse, only to find that instead of the place
being empty, one of the Don's men is sitting in the office, eyeballing
the video security system like a hawk. He hustles Angie off to make her
pickup before she can see what it is he's watching so close, but when you
put it all together, it felt like just what we were looking for. Dale
seemed to think so too, particularly when he heard the bit about the
cameras -- guess he'd gotten some video footage in the mail. He asked me to sit tight on the info til he got back to me -- hope you're not upset
that I didn't tell you until now. Last night, he called, and said it
was confirmed, and that he and Wes were going in there tonight.

Well, I don't know quite when Dale decided it was his lot in life to
take on armed gunmen, but I offered to go with him nonetheless.
Fortunately (I think), he declined the offer, and suggested an alternative. I spent last evening at ET, armed with a cell phone and monitoring to make sure that the Marzanos weren't aware of anything amiss. Frank left to deliver the dinner order at around six, and didn't return -- and nothing
seemed out of the ordinary the rest of the night. Since I didn't hear
any alarm calls from him, either, i'm assuming all went well. If you
hear the outcome before I do, give me a buzz.

I am a little concerned that the Don may suspect Angie's involvement --
I'm trying to get her to consider taking some time away, or even
announcing she's going to leave to take a new job at my office. I still don't know if I'm ready for any lifetime commitments, but I'm sure I don't
want to see anything bad happen to her. If you know anybody who does
communicate with her, maybe you can get them to put in the good word . . .

Hope to hear from you soon . . .

Bruce
