Email Phyllis Iris and Delivery of the Mask

Dearest Sunny,
Yesterday and especially last evening were harrowing, to say the least. As I watched Iris typing out emails I thought it was a good thing for her to focus on the investigation by reporting to the helpers. I felt that it allowed her to vent some of her panic and perhaps distance herself from the trance connection that's entangling her. I never could have anticipated that Valas would threaten her. "Tough Love" is for sulky teenagers not for a woman in the midst of hysteria. When she jumped up from the computer and started screaming that Valas was a Numbered One who was going to kill her, a feeling like ice water went through my veins. I read his email to her on the screen of her laptop and couldn't overcome my revulsion at the brutality of his words. While I sincerely appreciate his loyalty to me, I am sorely disappointed by this attack on Iris. It will be a while before I can order my thoughts and feelings and respond to
him directly. We finally convinced Iris to take one of the sleeping pills that I had on hand and that gave us all some rest last night. This morning she is much less hectic but sadly withdrawn. She has, on the surface, accepted our reasoning on the dangers of using the mask. We have suggested that she may find another way to connect with the trapped entity and help them. I think the answer is in the Library and going there may help her.

It has been difficult in the midst of all this drama to even think about
arranging for the delivery of the mask. I rather hoped that by asking all of you to select one person who lives nearby that I would be spared the agony of choosing. I guess I expected that all of you would compare your locations and take a vote on a representative. Instead, here I am again in the position of having to hurt the feelings of many in order to select only one. I am going to let Fate make the final decision and will write everyone's names on slips of paper. Later today, I will ask Chris or James to simply pick one from the pile.

Sam is buried in work and tells me that he simply cannot help me with the
delivery of the mask until tomorrow evening. I may have to use someone else; I don't know. Does that eliminate some of the contenders? I am remembering a place that Iris and I went on our day of flea-marketing that is a short drive west of town. I think whoever is selected will need a cell phone so that we can be sure of connecting them with Sam or whoever since I can't be sure at this point precisely where and when they will meet. I suppose we will have to work out some way for them to recognize each other as well. Wouldn't it be ironic if Sam gave the mask to someone no one knows simply because they've read the location of the meeting and learned the signals or whatever on one of your group's message boards? I think a degree of secrecy needs to be applied here,
don't you?

Love,
Phyllis

So how do we plan this?

Can we work out sending a small group?
At this point I know Al, Ray, Tartanwolf and I are all interested in going and could meet. I think though it would take 2 hours for all of us to connect at a moments notice and get there. One hour by the time we on LI meet up and up to another hour depending on where in Jersey we meet with Anita and whoever Phyllis sends. I'm the furthest with it taking me about 30 mins to get to Tartanwolf, close to about 50 minutes without traffic to get to Ray if I go directly. Does this put me out of it? I still think it is safer for a group to go and there maybe others I am not aware of who wish to go.

Let's talk and figure it out. If I keep my name in and it's not feasible time wise for me to go will it still be fair for me to have the mask others went to get?

With so many offering themselves for the responsibility of hiding the mask, I am contacting all of you with the same requests:
Are you available tomorrow evening?

Approximately how long would it take you to drive from wherever you are to a location west of Aglaura?

Do you have a cell phone number that you are willing to provide so that I may call you with the final details? You may also have to receive a call from whoever ends up making the delivery if there are any traffic delays and to identify yourself when you arrive.

Finally, please tell me why you want the mask?

Sincerely,
Phyllis

I would like to meet too Very Happy Even though I am coming from the other direction than the rest of you.

Regarding Valas' letter to Iris. If he has been successful and made her angry at him (as she is usually so quick to become angry) her focus on the Mask would have been distracted, possibly long enough for her to come to her senses. That it didn't work didn't necessarily mean it shouldn't have been tried. It was a desperate situation and strong measures are sometime needed. They, after all, threatened to hold her down and force the sleeping pill down her throat. That wasn't very nice either, but it had to be done.

*shrugs* I told Phyllis that I'm not a nice person, that I'm not a Knight in Shining Armour. She chose to believe differently, she cannot claim that I did not warn her.

And quite frankly, that e-mail was the mental equivalent of a slap in the face. Hoping that it would shock Iris out of it.

If Phyllis is disappointed. *shrugs* Her call, I still don't think that it was acceptable for Iris to recklessly endanger Phyllis' life like that by putting on that stupid mask, even though she had promised Phyllis that she wouldn't. Don't know about Phyllis, but I take promises seriously. Hysteria or no hysteria. Addiction or no addiction..

Plus this isn't the first time she's endangered Phyllis. Ashram encounter anyone?? Walking straight for the Numbered Ones, not wanting to leave...

Does she first need to get someone killed before she realizes how dangerous she's being to her companions??

1) don't decide who gets the mask until the group forms. Draw straws or play rock-paper-scissors to decide, and that way nothing is decided until the last minute.

2) Iris is channeling others, who are trapped in the Library. The mask is a way to understand more. Remove her contact from the mask, and we ignore their plight and ignore their contribution to the tale.

According to the latest news on lights at the Library, I don't think Iris needs the mask to contact the trapped entity again. If she went to the Library today, she may already have done so just using her basic psychic gifts.

I didn't think it was up to us to decide. I thought it was up to Phyllis.
