Three Day Limit Exceeded

hEAr.html has been updated now after the three-day countdown.

Garith? Garith Yung! If you are reading this message, something must have happened to me. Try to get to the communication console of surface base.

There are five audio files. The first is Garith as he's flying away from the station, and there seems to be some Esperanto too: "La spoco stoco estee nia ambassadoro", I think, for anyone who cares to translate it. The second appears to be sent by someone on an escape pod flying down to Mars, although the voice has been masked and it's hard to make out what they're saying at times. Next, there's the announcement David Severn makes while Ares is being recaptured, but it fades out at the end followed by a period of apparent silence. Last is Mary Haynes recording herself as the events in the station are happening, as well as a goodbye and thank-you message from Hanna.

I'm at work and cant listen to them! arrggghhh this is infuriating, can anyone transcribe them for me? Is this the end Sad

Do we think the escape bod was Beth and Charlie? Or it could have been Chester?

Does the esperanto sound like:

La spaco stoco este nia ambasadoro

Because that would translate to:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The Space **** to be our ambassador

Transcript of Garith's transmission

Quote:
Woah, Hey. Is this thing on? Hello?

Hello Brothers and Sisters. This is Garith Yung safe and sound. There's a storm on that station I just left. There's some bad karma down there. Bad Karma. Bad Monkeys. I'm just gonna fly around here - woah, look at the size of that gun! I sure hope Hanna's fine down there. Aah, it's turning. It's pointing at that gate thing. Woah, now it's turning away, it's pointing - uh, it's pointing, uh, RIGHT AT ME! Hanna! What are you - woah! - That almost hit me! That's not good karma Hanna! You're gonna have to learn how to meditate.

Woah, brothers and sisters, the asteroid - it's really a gate. It's opening like the lotus blossom. There's bright light spilling out. Woah - the gate is coming closer. Brothers and Sisters, you won't believe this, but, it's swallowing the station. If any of my flock on the station can hear this, Moove Awaay. Do *not* go towards the light. Ah, Damn - the gate just ate the station. uuh,

<Esperanto> (1:42 - 1:50) </Esperanto>

uuh, I'm not sure what that was. Woah - somethings flying down towards Mars. Looks sort of like an escape pod.

I don't think I'm gonna go through that gate. I promised Hanna I'd tell Earth about what happened here. Uuh, I'm, uh, not too sure what's happened here. But there's a base down on Mars. I think it's finished enough that I can live there a while. And I should check on that escape pod. Whoever that was might need help. I'm gonna fly down there and, I think, yeah - a lot of transmissions were sent from the station in the last half hour, so I'll send those when I get down there.

Oh, and if anyone catches this - It would really be groovy if you'd send along a transport to get me back to Earth. Thanks. Peace Out.

I love the fact he mentioned the monkeys - and they nearly did shoot Garith Laughing

That sounded about right with the Esperanto Russell

I'll have another listen in a bit. I'm in work too, but I'll try and fit in some more transcriptions later (probably lunch time)

and I'm sure it's Charlie in the escape pod - he doesn't sound very happy...

and Ohmega is Molly! D'oh - why didn't I think of that!

Charlies Message (Life_pod_93_broadcast)

Quote:
Ruined Everything. You have ruined everything. All my work destroyed. Destroyed. After all that trouble. All those years of waiting, I found the one named Cohen. I saw him as like us. Disliked by the world, untrustworthy. He had to escape from that thing he called "the family". He wanted to prove himself to her. I showed him the only true escape. I showed him he had to cut the lifeline and colonise the moon. I whispered in his ear and he listened. All the while he thought it was his idea. He didn't realise I was whispering in his ear all the time - even after I spoke to him directly.

You ruined it all. This red planet, this is *our* home. This is the place that we found a future. The calm speaker says we can no longer have a home, but this IS our home. And you've ruined it all. I warned you ??? (can't hear Question ). I told you all - it was a test, and this is the price of your failure. You will be forever bound to the universe. Humanity is no longer the master of it's own destiny. You will be trapped in endless politics of the void forever.

Close that gate calm speaker. Set this world off limits to humanity. This is our world now. Leave us alone.

There is a bit I can't hear very well - anyone have any ideas?

And the last three

Severn Announcement

Quote:
Citizens of Ares Station this is David Severn speaking to you from Timothy Cohen's office. It's done. *He* is done. As we speak his gun is being turned away from Earth. Earth is safe and those of you he brought on board this station with the promise of power, listen very carefully. I have power over this station's systems now. Put down your weapons and get ready to spend some time in a locked room. you're going back to Earth. In fact I think it's time for a lot of us to get back to Earth. Time to go home.(breaking up) It's time for a lot of us to... Where's that light coming from? What's happen...

Live From Ares Station

Quote:
This is Mary Haynes reporting live from the HP Rosenthal Research Station. Something bad has happened here. This brave new frontier has gone wrong. Timothy Cohen, the AIB representative here told everyone that this station was a lifeline for Earth. He was lying to everyone. He hasn't created a lifeline here, he has created a weapon. For the past two years he has been constructing a gun, creating the sarin gas and developing a fast spreading Ebola like virus. The purpose of these grotesque plans: to destroy Earth.

This is not a tale of woe, it is a tale of triumph. A small group of station citizens discovered these plans and are now, as we speak, disrupting them. (MONKEY!!) Uh, that sound you just heard is a genetically engineered chimpanzee that was created on the station. They've just been released and are distracting Cohen's guards while, uh (PIERCING NOISE!) AAh - let me, let me get in here.

I am broadcasting from the small closet now. That whistle was the second diversion. My sources tell me that David Severn, the war hero that went missing two years ago, is on the station. He's going to confront Cohen and regain control of the station. He will ??? there is nothing to fear.

There is nothing at all to fear...

This won't be my last broadcast...

I'll stay here until justice is done. If this station continues operation, I'll stay and make sure there is a real connection between Earth and the people living here. Most of them feel lost. They feel rejected by people on Earth. They're not a stepping stone to a higher career - they are real people. And their stories need to be told. Once this is over I'll continue telling their stories. I just hope you listen. Until next time, this is Mary Haynes, signing off.

Mary's one is particularly well done I thought - there is all sorts going on in the background.

Hanna Redfoot Farewell

Quote:
Hi everyone. Hanna Redfoot here. It's about half an hour before Ohmega gives the word and I make my mad monkey dodging dash out to that control panel. I just wanted to say thankyou to everyone that's helped me the past few weeks. Hell, everyone you've been helping appreciates it a lot.

They call this place a lifeline but all of you down on Earth have been a lifeline for us too. I think I would've spent five years staring at David's back if it wasn't for all of you. Not to mention Earth would be destroyed! How is it that I think of David before Earth?

Anyway I just wanted to say that I really appreciate all you've done, and if some of you are nervous about the decision tonight - don't be I'm sure everything's gonna be just fine.

(Muffled speaking) What's that? Oh yeh - Ohmega has a message that she want's you to deliver if she can't. If you see Jacob before we do, her message is "My name is Molly. This time Jacob I was helping you." Is that all? OK

I guess that's it. Again, thankyou everyone. We couldn't have done any of this without you.

I guess she means they couldn't have condemned humanity to an eternity of slavery without us - or something like that Laughing

I have just listened to the first one, and im guessing the esperanto message meant

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
"The space station will be the ambassador"

I think the missing part from the second log is:

Quote:
I warned you of protocol, even though the rest of your mind recoiled in horror.

The missing text from Marys is:

Quote:
Save Earth

This is the best log! especially linking in all our diversions, and then at the end you can hear David starting his log in the background!

Communication with Ares Station Down

May. 4, 2083

Certain news agencies have announced that communication has been lost with the Ares Station. We are sad to confirm these rumors, although situation is not as dire as has been reported. There are numerous potential reasons for communication to be lost. Cosmic radiation might have damaged circuits on either the station itself or on the smaller station we use as a relay. Likewise, electronics do wear out over time and the communication relays on either of the aforementioned stations may have simply worn out.

Whatever the reason is for the malfunction(s) there isn't any cause for alarm. Ares Station is staffed with some of humanity's best, brightest, and most resourceful minds. We are confident that they will be able to fix these problems in a prompt manner. The lifeline will not be so easily severed.

AIB would also like to take this opportunity to address the rumors that some sort of calamity has affected the station. Certain parties claim that they have been receiving radio transmissions from station resident Garith Yung (among others) who claim that the station was being used as a weapon… as well as more fantastic claims. There is no indication that any of these claims approach reality. These radio transmissions have probably been fabricated, perhaps by bored college students. Please do not take these claims seriously. We are certain there is no truth to any of these rumors.

You bored college students! Smile

Is anyone else having trouble downloading the files? I keep getting a timeout.

We'll see - I'm not completely convinced that it's over yet - I hope not Sad

If it's not - then I guess we may see some more developments with the star people coming to Earth. There is plenty more story that could be told - but whether it will be or not I don't know...

Having heard Charlie now - I'm not sure whether to sympathise with him, or think we did the right thing! But I want to find out!

oh wow Very Happy

Charlie escaped to Mars surface, and Garith too! - i guess Jacobs alive somehow / somewhere too...

God knows whats going to happen now...
The Star people enslave humanity, or free them?.
The Station re-appears as a kind of Babylon 5 "last best chance for peace" with lots of rubber eared aliens walking around.
We have pity on Charlie and set up a reserve on Mars - well with the rest of the universe to discover, we dont need it so much now.
Garith makes contact with us...in esperanto...and we save Jacob from the demented Charlie.
The monkeys escape on a space pod and colonise Mars (my favourite - everyone likes a happy ending).
