Thanks for the kind words. I cannot express to you how hurt and abused I feel right now. How would you feel if a complete stranger emailed you threatening to hurt you? How can he say I would knowingly hurt Phyllis? God, I have never seen a crueler email. Maybe someone should put him in a trance and we will see how well he fares.

This is a complete reversal for Iris. Since finding the mask she's gone from "investigating the case of a lifetime" to "I really just want to finish my job and go home". And she's never refered to what she does as "her job" before, it's always been a labor of love.

Access to the mask has changed her in ways we can't understand, much as the disc eventually drove it's owner to suicide. I can only imagine what's happening to those kids who found the wand. They are probably experiencing similar symptoms, especially if they are at all sensitive.

Someone needs to explain this to Phyllis - that Iris may become irrational, especiallywhere the mask is concerned. And from what we saw in the disc owner's journal, the effect is progressive. The longer Iris remains in proximity to the mask, the worse she will get. She may even attempt to take her own life.

Tell Phyllis that she must get the mask as far away from Iris as possible; whether she gives it to one of us or puts it in a lead box in the basement of Wes' shop is immaterial. Iris' mental health is at stake here, and the effect may not be reversable.

I don't believe that Valas' message was the cause, although it may be a trigger for the paranoid delusions that Iris is experiencing. And Iris is using it as an excuse for her current state of mind, where it's really the mask that's causing her problems.

I do not blame you for anything. I am just so tired of being used as a
punching bag. I may not be the nicest, prettiest or brightest person, but I
am a human being and every fiber in my body rejects the thought that I deserve
any of the nastiness that has come my way since this case began.

All I want is to help Phyllis and go home where I can forget that I ever
learned of internet investigators; if I can do so without having to deal with
them again, all the better.
