I had mixed results on Halo last night. With the early team, I turned in embarassingly low kill counts almost every game. Later in the evening, I was placing first or second. I don't know whether to blame it on my cold, the stats reset, or Vash. So, I'm going to blame Vash. Yep. That was the problem, alright.

I thought we did well last night with the notable exception of the game on Turf...

I think that it will be a while before you can expect a normal game in matchmakeing, but I agree we should blame everythi...(falls over mid stride, sniped in the head by Vash)

I tried one matchmaking game yesterday - it didn't seem too different to me, maybe I got lucky and avoided the worst of the worst general public players.

I did highly enjoy the custom games last night for some indescribable reason. Most fun I've had in a while.

I know that everyone here probably has a memorable moment or two while playing. I have this strange idea...why not share them?

No to beat a dead horse or anything but, I kinda think after reading all the fore mentioned responses, that maybe if we started sharing things that we ENJOY about this game that we play instead of the things that annoy us, we might have a better time at it.

What do y'all say?

Okay, I have a fun one from last night, even though we lost that game. We were playing multi-flag CTF on Blood Gulch. The enemy base was empty, so I snatched the flag and ran out the side entrance to the teleporter. On my way, I crossed paths with their carrier coming with our flag! What else could I do? I beat the flag carrier down with his own flag, and hurried along to the teleporter.

It was on Beaver Creek ... Still pretty funny!

I didn't notice anything weird on matchmaking, except the levels seemed pretty screwed up! I was going up pretty fast when winning and not coming down when losing. Seems different now. Oh, we had some games against really skilled guys, which was expected. Lost a lot of games ...

ok, it was last weekend on turf, see if i get this right:
you, Grifter, and 4dswisscheese were red, thunderclap, his bro, and i were blue
i jumped into the back of Grifter's 'hog and started firing at 4d, he of course, says "oh no you don't!" and drives away to save his comrade. we charge right at the doors, they burst open as Uber is spawning inside the warehouse
*splat*

i can only imagine what it looked like from the other end "hmm, ok, i've spawned, now to get a weapon and-" *boom, doors open* "what the-?" *splat*

after that we jumped out of the hog but were laughing so hard that we were both having a little trouble beating the other guy down (grifter finally got me), i actually woke Ciphermage up because i was laughing so much

correct me if i got any of the people wrong, i'm pretty sure that was what went down

Well so far, my favorite game *set of games* was with those German/Dutch/Jamacain guys that I couldn't understand. We were playing sort of Mlg, sort of Br spawns sort of thing on just about all the maps, all were to 50 kills. Me and Vash got owned just about everytime, but It was always by about 5 or 6 kills, and I usually had well over half our teams kills, that was with Me, Vash, and two other guys. The best part about it all was I kept hearing something in german followed by name or Vash's name, I had no idea what they were saying, but I gurantee it wasn't good.
We were cracking up the whole game, Germacain and American alike Very Happy
Anyways, I just played a huge fiesta game with a couple people, using a handicap and I played catchup with VidStudent thh whole game, I quite enjoyed it, I couldn't hear him and he couldn't here me tho, a netsplit sort of thing going on I think. Either way, it was quite good...

I've had a lot of good moments in the game, but one that comes to mind was a 5 on 9 CTF game on Coag. Scorpions were on, the flag was touch return. We decided at the beginning that our team would have to only get one flag to win, due to the fact we had half the team. The game went to a stalemate the first half hour, at which point I realized they had just brought a banshee over trying to drop in. I left my buddy Sean as our defender in the scorpion, as I hopped in the banshee and flew over to the enemy base to drop in on them-the same time the rest of our team arrived there to assault the base. I got the flag out, was charging along from the bottom, up the ramp, and through the teleporter, walking right past 3 enemy players in the process without them noticing. I warped through, and started the long haul back when my buddy drove up in the warthog with impeccable timing. I hopped in and we drove off right when they popped through to stop us. We made it back and got the point. While this was going on, they had made an attack on our base, and somehow Sean managed to keep their entire task force at bay with an almost stationary Scorpion tank.

Another fun moment was in matchmaking the other day when I, tired of standing around the enemy teleporter on Coag, decided to join the two of you folks who were heading into the enemy base to steal their flag. They did kill someone, but utilizing said shotgun and my proficiency with it, I blasted two of their teammates, and we proceeded to drive the hell out of there. I don't even remember if we got the point-I think we did. It was awesome, though.

I also enjoyed the time Sean and I drove around on Waterworks the entire slayer match, stopping only to change warthogs. We accounted for over half the team kills in that match, taking down wraiths, banshees, ghosts, and other hogs. How we didn't get rocketed is beyond me, but suffice to say, we "tore up".

----------------
On the subject of "etiquette" at hand, the bottom line is that I simply don't ever feel good about letting someone go if I know I can stop em, like I'm letting down the team, whether or not winning is important. At best I'll weaken them or something if it's a firefight and let my teammate try and finish them off, but just plain letting people go? Not fun.

I have an idea though, to even things up. Why not set the option to the games where the more times you die, the stronger you get, and the more times you kill, the weaker you get? I mean, it's in there, it was in Halo 1 as well, even though no one I know used it. I could see that being an effective offsetting of the madness.

I am not sure how many more times the point needs to be clarified:

See someone? Kill 'em. If you're camping out at the spawn points to do it, during custom games, you're probably being an ass.

No one here has said that you should 'let someone go.'

As I said, I'm with you there. I don't let people live just to let them feel better. It doesn't matter how many times I killed someone, I will continue shooting! Heck, I didn't even go easy on Kristen, when I had the chance to play with her! Laughing If I notice someone letting me go or letting me kill him/her, I'd be offended, so I would never do that. What bothers people is when you're on an objective game and you simply ignore the objective area and go straight to where the other team spawns, take advantage of this and start to kill them as soon as they spawn! If you don't go there in the first place, you don't have to let them go and that's what I do ... It's pretty easy to tell when somebody is actively looking for fresh spawn players to kill!
