[XBOX]Forza Motorsport

Is anyone getting this one? It seems to be a pretty damn good game, for those racing nuts! I'm thinking about it ...

I tried playing it at BestBuy, but I couldn't keep my RS8 on the track. Maybe there was a button I was missing that turns on the steering control P)

Yeah, I think this game is pretty hard. But it's expected, considering it's a sim racer, not arcade racer. I'm just afraid that playing it without a wheel might be impossible! Race sims require good control on the gas and brakes and it's something I can't do with the triggers, even though they are analogs. I really really want to buy a racing wheel, but I want one that has force feedback and works on the PC and Xbox ... No such animal. And the bad part is only xbox2 will have force feedback implemented. Bang Head

Well, you didn't steer me wrong with Winning Eleven 8 so I may have to try this one out as well. The reviews seem to be very favorable and on line play is a bonus.

Ok, I rented this game. Let me give some impressions.

Graphics are not that great. It's on par with PGR2, which are pretty good, but I was expecting more ...

Driving without assists is pretty damn hard! I think I'll keep auto trans and ABS on. I found it impossible to brake without ABS and not locking the wheels! It may change with upgrades and different cars. With wheel and pedals, I'd go with manual and no ABS ...

I just started career and was driving some basic cars. Handling seems more real than PGR. But somehow it seemed easier to drive than PGR2. I'm not sure why, but it seemed easier to get a good line! On PGR2, I'm always turning too soon! I think gameplay is pretty damn good and probably the best racing I've had on a console.

I didn't play on Live yet. But it's cool that you can progress your career online, against other players! The scoreboard is also pretty cool, and you can see how well your racing time matches with people on Live. You can also compare your performance with your friends. There's an option to watch their replay, but it didn't work ... You can also download the car setup they used on their race. The whole car club should be really cool and it works like a clan!

I didn't mess with the garage options much. But it seems pretty cool how you can customize your cars. Almost everytime you win races on career mode, you get some discounts with some companies like Pirelli, so you can upgrade parts on your car.

All in all, it seems a very complete game! Tons of options! I can't compare with GT series, since I don't own a PS2, but I think that if you like racing, it's a must. It's certainly more sim than PGR2, if that's what you like. I just feel this game should be played with wheel/pedal and force feedback ... Oh well, it'll be there with Forza2 on xbox 360!

Ah, if anyone gets it, let's race online! It should be fun!

Just read a review of this, and if it's everything the review says...

Just another reason why I might have to give up the PS2. I've become attached to the XBox, and there were only a few reasons I hung on to my PS2. Gran Turismo and Metal Gear were the main ones... but if this is all its made out to be... well... I don't have to rely on GT for my racing fix anymore.

Damn you, microsoft, damn you.

Ok, I own it and its very good. the key is to break early and make use of those analog triggers.
The graphics are a bit misleading but are quite detailed (try running the sunset peninsulla speedway track, all cars have dynamic shadows and reflections running) Also another fun thing is get two P1ish class cars and run opposite directions on a speedway.

Uhm, I havent' been on much but if anyone wants help I play with no assists and manual transmission.

Ok, here's how strange things happen.

I was anxiously waiting for this game for quite some time. When I finally got it, I loved it! After a couple of hours of fun, I realized something was not right! I could never get full control of the car! This has always been a problem for me, when playing with a controller. I just can't get a good line, with reasonable breaking points, hitting apex consistently. I can get the occasional very good lap, but in a 10 lap race, I know I wouldn't fare well.

So, during the weekend, I decided I wanted to buy a steering wheel. It's something I've always wanted! I used to be a pretty hardcore sim-racer on GP1 and GP2, back in the day, but always using keyboard! I've always wanted a wheel, but I was just a student at that time.

I always thought that the Mad Catz Universal wheel would work for Xbox and PC. I was wrong ... Plus, I could never find a decent xbox wheel on any store!

But that desire to buy a wheel was still going strong! I then decided to give one of this a try! It's a PC-wheel. I tried multiple sim-racing demos and I found happines on this game! It's a freaking awesome simulator! It feels sooo real. The cool thing is how precise I can drive with a wheel on this game. I can accurately tune my line and hit apex consistently now! I can go 10-15 laps without making any major mistake!! Some people say it takes some time to adjust to a wheel, but it took me 1-2 hours max to get used to the feel! Comparing fast people that play this game 24/7, I'm not that bad, considering I've been playing for 3 days only, and it's my first experience with a wheel.

Ok, totally off-topic, I know. But it shows how an xbox game made me buy a PC wheel and have a lot of fun with another game! I'll still play Forza and I'm sure I'd love to play it with the fanatec wheel, but I couldn't pay that much for a exclusive xbox wheel. If only xbox had wheel support like PS2, I'd be in heaven!
