IGN has created an Xbox360 section of their web site. It has everything that they know so far about the Xbox 360.
It also contains the below image which shows the dimensions of the Xbox 360.

/em wonders if he can stack a ps2 on it.

EDIT: do we know what the port on the right is for yet?

From TeamXbox.com:
TeamXbox.com wrote:

Following last month's pictures of the supposed next generation Xbox controller, a new photo of what looks like a prototype of the Xbox 360 controller has been leaked tonight.

The new photo shows a controller that looks similar to that seem in previous pictures but surprisingly, this one has a cord attached to it. Once again, the glossy look of the enclosure and the absence of a logo in the front make us think that, if real, this is just a prototype of the Xbox 360 controller as the console will utilize wireless technology for its controllers.

So far, the pictures released would confirm the replacement of the Black and White buttons with two shoulder buttons while the Back and Start buttons have been moved toward both sides of the Xbox 360 logo.

Damn, that looks even smaller than the 'S' controller. Maybe the size of a Mad Catz MicroCon. Gah... way too tiny for my hands. I hope that there are going to be larger versions of the controller, otherwise I'm gonna have to wait for some 3rd party to come back with an 'S' type design that works on the 360.

Good golly. engadget has a lengthy post on the guts of xenon.

I'm starting to see how they expect that anyone will buy this thing within a year of buying the original box. Highlights:

- Stream media from any networked XP PC
- Plays media from portable devices
- Two-tiers of subscriptions to Live!, sliver (free) and gold (pay)
- silver includes the rumored upgrades of offline/online achievements, gamer profiles, purchasing, etc.
- silver also includes "Free Xbox Live! weekends," so maybe free players can only play on weekdays beginning with an S?
- gold has everything sliver, but it looks like your ability to make matchmaking use the new gamer profiles is only present with gold (the upgrade gives you the ability to do matchmaking based on skill or against only good-reputation players)
- open standard disc reading format (see below)
- an awful lot of directed computing power...3 x 3.2GHz CPU cores, 1MB L2 cache...though I'm not sure if that's 1MB per core or shared. a beefy GPU, but I don't remember seeing what special instructions it can handle aside from Shader (2?) and current DirectX standards (see below)

More details from Neowin.net
Neowin.net wrote:

Days before Microsoft is due to air a special event on MTV across the world, specifications for the next generation Xbox have been posted in full online. Amongst the details leaked is word of two Xbox live services, a silver free service and a gold paid service.
"There will be two versions of Xbox Live. Silver is free (everyone gets it), and Gold is a paid subscription, like the current XBL. It looks like Xbox Live will be free on the weekends for everyone; Gold members will get it all the time, obviously. Current Xbox Live accounts will carry over to the 360 and become Gold Xbox Live accounts. Both Gold and Silver members will be able to download demos, trailers, and other content through XBL."

The leaked specs confirm lots of the rumors we saw over the last few months.
The specs say the Xbox360 will have support for 4 wireless controllers and the console will have 3 USB2.0 ports. The DVD drive will be a 'simple' DVD9-drive, with support for these formats: DVD-video, DVD-Rom, DVD-R/RW, CD-DA, CD-Rom, CD-R, CD-RW, WMA CD, MP3 cd, JPEG photo CD. The detachable 20GB HDD will be included by default from the information we received (atleast in the 'full' package). We also got some sources telling us the Xbox360 will come with Wi-Fi 802.11 A, B and G support.
The Xbox 360 face plates will be customizable to change the appearance.
All games will have full support for the 16:9 format , 720p and 1080i HDTV (Max resolution: 1920x1080) and anti-aliasing.

Xbox360's IBM CPU will have 3 symmetrical cores running at 3.2 GHz each with 1 MB L2 cache. Each core has 2 hardware threads and one VMX-128 vector unit. Enough to boost an impressive 9 billion dots per second.
The ATI GPU will run at 500MHz with 10 MB embedded DRAM (256 GB/s memory bandwidth) and contain 48 parallel floating-point shader pipelines.
System memory will probably be 512MB of GDDR3 RAM (at 700 Mhz) with 22.4 GB/s memory interface bus bandwidth and 21.6GB/s frontside bus bandwidth.
The Xbox360 will also have a mulitchannel surround output.

You'll know if all above is real and more in a bit more then 3 days Wink

1) You gotta wonder what Sony is thinking about all this. The PS3 better be DAMNED good if they plan on having it stand up to this.

2) What are the price points going to be? And are the games going to stay at the current $50-$60 price range? For that amount of hardware... it seems crazy to me that they'd offer it for $400 for the "full" version, and $300 for a lesser version. That's practically giving it away.

If the PS3 supports Blu-Ray DVD as it supposedly does that will be their trump card over the Xbox 360. I would look for the PS3 to have similar specs on all other hardware.

M$ currently loses money on every Xbox console they sell. They don't make money off of consoles sales, they make all their money off accesories and games. So in essence what you are saying is true. They practically giving it away.

Yeah, this is going to be a tough choice, as to which one to get. I think backwards compatibility and games are going to be the clinchers. Of course, if the XBox360 comes bundled with Halo2, that's going to be big points in it's favor.

Yeah, I know they lose money on every console, but sheesh... you'd think there'd only be so much they can lose before it actually starts to hurt. I mean, looking at some of those specs... it costs a fair bit to get a PC with that kinda hardware. definitely more than $400.

I wonder if this is when we truly start to see game consoles/PC's starting to merge. I'm still hoping there's a Media Center edition of the XBox.

WOW!! Great news! 1080i supports makes me giggle like Krystyn!!

3 x 3.2 core is just awesome! 1mb cache is GREAT! 512MB of Ram is great! Seems pretty damn awesome!

Now, this is tricky. There's been rumors about how Blu-Ray and HD-DVD were talking about a common standard in the future. Blu-Ray should drive costs up. If there will be a battle between Blu-Ray and HD-DVD, I can see Sony giving away this, to tip the balance towards Blu-Ray. But if there's a common standard coming up, there wouldn't be much reason for Sony to give this for free ... So, I'm curious to see how much will the PS3 cost when released.

I still think the most amazing thing MS has is Xbox Live! It's the best system in place, without any real competition! A lot easier to use than online gaming on PC! The thing is MS spent a lot of time/money/effort to get this going, plus they have experience! I expect every Live-enabled game to function as good as Halo2 and Forza! With cool rankings, clans and other cool features! I don't think Sony or Ninty can even remotely match this! With broadband becoming more and more common and Live having some free features, this will attract a lot of people!!

One of the engadget links I posted above hinted that there would be based on the remote for the Nbox.

Your are right that xbox live! doesn't have any competition, but the thing is, most online games for Ps2 don't require any type of pay subscription at all, other then the modem attachment and the Mic, which comes with a couple different games, the whole set up is free. Sure it doesn't pass over game to game, but then again, I'm not sure which way I would choose.
Would you rather have
PS2
*Pay for headset, no extremely highquality ones, about 30$, and easily broken
*Pay for Modem
*Free accounts for most games, and multiple accounts per xbox.
(I say most games, because now that I think about it, there are a bunch of Mmorpgs that I've never touched on PS2 that have pergame subscription costs but talking about FPS's like Socom 2 are free)
Xbox
*One over all subscription for all games, bout 50 cents a day for one account
*Pay for mic, 60$ if you want to get an extremely high quality, otherwise 30$ and easily broken
*Only one account per subscription fee, but that account carries over to all live games.
*Modem in the Box already

Ok, so now that I actually debate it, Xbox Live! would be for people who want to play multiple Mmorpgs, which there aren't any I think for Xbox right now, so that cancels that out. It's also for people who want their gamertag to stick with them and not have to set up a different account for each game.
PS2 setup on the other hand would be for people who play games liek NFSU and Socom, and don't mind carrying a few different accounts for their different games as long as they don't have to pay for it.
Other then that, the two online systems are basically the same, the hardware is pretty much equal in quality and price.
The only extremely major plus that I have for the PS2 is that I haev yet to come across a four year old calling me a NOOB, the community for Socom two and others is almost completely polite, as long as you don't act liek an asshole, your free to roam, otherwise, people hate you, boot you, and generally ignore your ass until you go away, and thanks to that, there are almost no assholes in that community!
I know everyone here would consider that a freaking huge bonus afterplaying H2 matchmaking for about 20 minutes.
I do hope that wiith the Xbox 360 that the children and oother random assholes take awhile to show up and harass everyone, or at least M$ comes up with a new plan for dealing with those guys other then the feedback system, which right now is about flacid. Crying or Very sad The one thing I really hope for is that Xbox stays with the pay for account thing and not per game, I have the money to pay for it, it would just be fricken hassle to pay for four different games and not just one monthly fee!

Just my 1.50$ Wink
