Looking at the JPEG frames in detail with ImageMagick, there is a comment field with the value "AppleMark." I doubt this amounts to anything since a Google search brings up pages of images with the same comment--it was probably generated by a plugin or application (iPhoto, perhaps?) I do not see much else of value in the data.

I agree with Reason. When I saw the new spash page I automatically assumed it was an image from a graphics package rather than a photograph. So the area behind the sticker is not real, but may still be a clue of some sort.

Where can you still find those kinds of lamp posts?
