I got a manuscript page today! Very pretty... See attachment to help decipher. Too bad I don't know Latin.

Here's a basic translation for the two blocks of text on dan's page (they're italian, BTW, not latin):

Quote:
iniziare, il mezzo - to begin, the means
maggiore il minore contro, iniziare - greater the minor against, to begin
il mezzo, uguale maggiore, il minore - the means, equal greater, the minor
contro, la fine - against, the end

differire, contro - to defer, against
iniziare, la fine iniziare, la fine - to begin, the end begin, the end
la fine, il minore il mezzo, maggiore - the end, the minor the means, greater
differire, contro la fine, uguale - to differ, against the end, equal
differire, la concordia il mezzo, uguale - to defer, the concurrence the means, equal
la fine, il minore iniziare, maggiore - the end, the minor begin, greater

I think they're instructions for using the triangles in the center to perform some kind of translation. The symbols are the same as appeared on the original Trithemius manuscript page (found in the old trunk).

Pam Phensley has the blue boardered page with the symbols.

Pam hasn't posted since she received the page. She never posted a pic anywhere as far as I can tell but the link sjct provided above is a picture of the page she received from Phyllis.

We are getting a little worried about Pam. Valas sent her an email recently and it bounced as mailbox full. maybe she is on vacation, maybe the DEGs are holding her hostage? Shocked Shocked Shocked

Just the top is Latin, the rest is Italian.
Got one of my Italian friends to translate:

Note - I'm not entirely sure what the symbols between the words mean - multiplication signs? Here's the words:

Upper right text:

to start, the middle major/greater, the minor/lesser against, start the middle, equal to the major/greater, the minor/lesser against, the end"

If that symbol implies multiplication:

start, the middle times the greater, the lesser against, start times the center, equals the major, the lesser times the against, the end"

Lower left text (assuming symbol = multiplication):

differentiate, against times the start, the end starts, the end times the end, the minor the middle, the greater times the differentiate, against the end, equal times the differentiate, the concordance, the middle, equal times the end, the lesser starts, the major"

Hope this helps / confuses you as much as it does me! =)

this is probably relevant to solving danman's manuscript page...

http://lullianarts.net/ars-brevis/ars-brevis.htm

note especially The Second Figure http://lullianarts.net/ars-brevis/ars-brevis-28.htm (even the colors of the triangle are the same)

and The Third Figure http://lullianarts.net/ars-brevis/ars-brevis-31.htm

OOH got it got it!
Asjking TP about Ramon Llull gave me this link:
www.llull.org

And found this page, where all the terms in Italian are associated with a point in the triangle diagram and explained in some way:
http://www.llull.org/tfig.htm

Still reading&checking, but I think this is the path to somtehing!

Additional Thought

Ask TP about Aleister Crowley.

He wrote the book "Magick" which had a zodiacal circle with symbols and a T or Y in the middle too.

That's what's been wracking my brain since I first saw that picture on the manuscript; it finally hit me.

So does that mean the symbol on Dan's page = "T"?

Great find Shelina Very Happy

Using the info from Llull's figure 2, I have come up with the following for the Italian on Danny's mss. page. I'm not sure what it means, but figured I'd put it out there so other people can waste time staring at it like me. Very Happy

The Italian seems to be in 17 pairs of words. I think the little dot graphic is just a separator, and I have noted it below as an asterick, *

TOP:
begin, middle * major, minor
contra, begin * middle, equal
major, minor * contra, end

BOTTOM:
differ, contra * begin, end
begin, end * end, minor
middle, major * differ, contra
end, equal * differ, concord
middle, equal * end, minor
begin, major

If you use the letters in Llull's diagram, you get the following pairs:

TOP:
e,f * h,k
d,e * f,i
h,k * d,g

BOTTOM:
b,d * e,g
e,g * g,k
f,h * b,d
g,i * b,c
f,i * g,k
e,h

Not sure how this relates to the symbols on the manuscript page. Also, the Llull figure is labelled "T" but the manuscript page has the same symbol in the middle of the triangle and on the top of the circle. WTF is that supposed to mean??

Frustrated.

Edited to add:

The grid on this page:
http://lullianarts.net/ars-brevis/ars-brevis-31.htm

is also on the manuscript page, and has 36 boxes, but there are only 34 letters in the Italian on the manuscript page, so I'm not sure if they correlate or not. Maybe one of Sarah's transcription "errors"?

Dale chat: Clues to solving this page

I chatted with Dale in AIM tonight. Here's how to solve the page.

Dashcat7: Dale the octet puzzle has been solved
mythperception: great
mythperception: did you solve it?
Dashcat7: No grumpy boy solved it...he's writing it up now
Dashcat7: He will post soon
mythperception: ok i have also been working on the manuscript with the Llull diagram
Dashcat7: Did you come up with anything?
mythperception: the italian words make letter pairs
Dashcat7: really? How?
mythperception: if you refer to the Llull diagram
Dashcat7: ok
mythperception: each triangle point has a different word on it
Dashcat7: yes
mythperception: like beginning that matches the italian words
mythperception: put each pair together and make a string of letter pairs
mythperception: Thats what I did and then I noticed another Llull diagram
mythperception: figure 3 I think it is
mythperception: it has the same letter pairs
mythperception: following me so far
mythperception: ?
Dashcat7: Yes
mythperception: I got to thinking
mythperception: how to make a message from that
mythperception: And then I saw it
Dashcat7: Ok...what? I didn't see anything in those letters
mythperception: If you fill in the grid thats on the manuscript page that resembles figure 3 with an alphabet a-z and then 0-9 you fill in all the boxes
mythperception: Match up the letter pairs with those new letters
mythperception: do you understand?
Dashcat7: I think...if I don't I know others who will Surprised)
mythperception: explain it like this
mythperception: figure three starts with the letters BC, CD, DE etc in the boxes. Do you see?
Dashcat7: yes
mythperception: On the page there is an empty grid like this
Dashcat7: yes I know
mythperception: if yoiu fill it in starting with a, then BC = a, and CD = b etc
Dashcat7: Ohh ok I get it
mythperception: i think the Llull page message is found that way but i havent had time to work it through yet
mythperception: see what you can do and please share this with everyone OK?
Dashcat7: We'll start working on it right away. Oh sure Dale...I'll post this chat right now
Dashcat7: http://www.greywethers.net/sb6/eternalarchetypes.html
Dashcat7: Newest page
mythperception: great im off to check it out
mythperception signed off at 7:18:28 PM.

Something else:

turingprinciple (15:17:46 ): Dale and I think the remaining manuscript page has something to do with Dante's Fourth Circle.

Looking for Dante's Fourth Cirlce I've found it was the place where avarice sin was punished. Still checking...
