Email Phyllis Re Fire at EOTW

Sunny Dear,
I have some very bad news to report. I was awoken in the night by the sound of fire engines and when I looked southward out of my bedroom window I could see flames leaping amid glowing billows of smoke. From the direction, I knew what it was. But, I threw on some clothes and hastened out, signaling a couple of my security men to join me. We drove down to find that Wes' shop was nearly burnt to the ground by the time we arrived. No one was hurt but everything in the shop is gone. It's a good thing Iris has Sarah's statue. Wes was still away with Dale but Sam tells me he is coming back tonight. I am heartsick for him and I hope he has good insurance coverage.

We stood around with a goodly number of fellow residents and watched the firemen dig through the debris. The Fire Chief told me that it's a likely case of arson. They found an almost circular pattern in the center of the building that seems to have been the source. This is, of course, the talk of the town today. Everyone has been distracted from their questions about the Analogue project it seems.

I have spent most of the day at the Library researching. Barbara and then Steffeny gave me a couple of environmental approaches to stall or completely thwart Marzano's plans to build out in the Pine Barrens. I am trying to pull together a position paper that will lay out the reasons you have all given me. I will be most appreciative of any data you all can provide to assist me, especially the relevant laws. Our Library is oddly lacking in that type of information. I intend to show up uninvited at the special meeting of the Council on Tuesday night and get as many townspeople as possible to join me to protest this rush to lay waste to our precious wilderness. You all know I am not a tree-hugger by inclination but I will attire myself from the L. L. Bean catalog if it will stop the Don from getting what he wants.

I am thinking I am going to run for the vacancy on the Council and take on Pat Dobbs, if need be, to fight the corruption that is obviously going on here. If Marzano is thinking he can install some outsider who is in his pocket, I have a surprise for him. I may not be the most popular girl in town but I think the locals respect me and know that I wouldn't be influenced by money.

I also spent some time at the hardware store today and got smoke detectors and fire extinguishers for every room in my house. The security team is on high alert. We will not be defeated!

Love,
Phyllis

Do we know if Traci is OK? She and Wes weren't together in there were they?

It was spec'd in chat this evening where Tracie might be hiding, and one of the possible locations was EOTW. If so, we won't know her fate until the investigators finish sifting through the ashes. It certainly would be a pyrrhic victory for Dale if he snatched Tracie from the hands of the Don, only to have her burn to death in this fire.

Of course, there was also the inevitable pundit who figured the Tracie was busy "doing Wes", and that's what started the fire. Hell, we knew she was hot, we just didn't realize she was on fire. Very Happy
