TV liscence pays for the BBC - advert free, nationalised tv channels... Although they still spew out as much crap as any other (Fame Academy, I'm looking at you.)

As for the inability to share the video, it sucks.

Oh, anyone who wants to, add me to your MSN jebjoya (@hotmail.com)

Hello fellos ³'s,

It was talked about today and obviously is being talked about here - So to ensure we have our 'rears' are covered in the event of someone posting a link here to an available download of the ARG Article on the BBC Culture Show I called the show organisers and I have the following to quote...

Culture Show Representative wrote:
The show is legal for only TWO screenings only. These screenings will be at seven in the evening on Thursday 12th of May and will be repeated later on the same evening at 11.20pm.

That's that folks. Anyone here who posts links to available download points for a digital recording of this will be breaking our Copyright Laws and may not only put the owner of the server in a possible world of legal hellishness but will also put our good man SpaceBass in a similar, if not more hellish place as the head-admin of this here community forum.

We've been warned.

as much as i have to agree with you, its so unfair Sad i pay my tv licence, i just dont have access to the tv at the moment Sad bit torrent is my saviour, a girl just cannot go 6 weeks without her dr who fix...

rach =)

Would it be legal to have just an exceprt of the show (I think PC only has a segment in it, right)?

I think we need to ask them what we need to do to aquire a licence to display the segment.
That way we will either get:

a) there is nothing you can do - which is unlikely
or
b) pay us

and.. if it is the only way we are going to be able to watch the segment. Perhaps the lucky being who stumbles across the cube might be so generous enough to provide a licence for us here at unforums =)

If you go to the 'Contact Us' page from the Culture Show site, it has various FAQ and says this:

Quote:
Q - I missed a radio/TV programme I was interested in, how can I hear/see it again?

A - To find out when a programme is broadcast, try searching the BBC What's On listings website. You can also search the BBC Online Shop for any BBC programme recordings. Our copyright agreements only allow broadcasts; duplication and distribution of programme tapes has to be negotiated as a separate commercial agreement. We therefore regret we can only provide recordings if they're commercially available.

So, its not looking good for legally distributing this Sad

Unless we could get a 'cheap' commercial agreement, or maybe MC will be kind enough to do this for us...

True, best we can hope for really, but not quite the same. I know if this was in the US I would be wanting to see the real thing.

I have written to MC on this matter, but its unlikely that anything will happen.

BBC site :

Quote:
The latest fad in computer gaming is so-called mixed reality, where the action takes place not only on the computer but also in the real world. Linda Kennedy ventures in to a realm where no one and nothing are quite what they seem.

Hahem, so this is just a fad...
I hope it is not.

i think the original point being made was...if you want to go ahead and host the torrent for this then thats up to you. but if you do, don't do it in such a way that will implicate unfiction in any illegal download activities (ie. don't put a link to the torrent in the forums or on irc)

people who want the torrent will just have to find alternative ways of contacting you...

I'm sure if anyone records it, it can be put up somewhere, and the link can be passed by other means than the forum to anyone who wants it.

We're probably one of the only forums around who would have such a moral dilemma like this. BBC programmes are recorded and torrented every day and I haven't heard of any complaints yet.
