It's a standard Vigenere Square cipher.

The keyword was clue.

I have an exam in data cryptography at university next Thursday, and this was a basic example Smile.

I solved it by copying the blog code into this website

http://sharkysoft.com/misc/vigenere/

Then just worked the key out from the first three letters.

T -> V = 3 = C
H -> S = 12 = L
X -> R = 21 = U

I used intelligence to figure out that the next letter might just be E, and guess what, it worked.

I understand how the cipher works, but what I can't find is the encoded text to decipher. I don't see it on the blog. Just a collection of plain text entries. The encoded text, for a Vigenere square, shouldn't be readable. Is it buried in an image? Is it not on the blogspot page?

Find the comment "Sometimes you read with your eyes, sometimes you read with...".

The picture directly below it is of the hotel notice saying, revelation is right around the corner.

Click comments below that picture.

Can you run the image numeric file names through your crypt
using the blog as the key in the order we recieved them?
it's a stretch but it's getting to be last minute!

Wow I didn't look at the screen name like that. lol What I would have done was, look around the corner. Around the top-middle corner of the building.

I new you ARG guys would find that little "tip" too easy But wow to find the key where I didn't even hide it. :GULP:

It's no big deal THX.

I have an exam at uni next weak which involves cracking Vigenere Square ciphers without knowing the length of the keyword to beging with, never mind exactly what it is Smile.

You're username was obvious becasue you can't encode numbers with the Vigenere square you used, so VSR had to equal THX Smile.

If I had to go to the effort of doing Kasiski and Friedman tests on the ciphertext, I would have, then it would have been the same process of elimination for each letter.
