I didn't see my medicore team in the credits either. I worked hard at all of this as well. Truth be told, we could've never known what they considered the truth untill they gave us the video. Its completely unfair. I was hoping for some sort of truth about ourcolony, not the xbox360. "The Truth" was nothing but timed releases of screenshots and xbox360 pics. Then the "real truth" was a video they never intended on releasing untill 0 hour on the clock.
I wasted so much time on this game thinking it was going to become something cool with all the mystery and intrigue it was creating. I thought ourcolony was going to get something special out of the entire deal. I thought we were going to have something given to us, that the colony would appreciate. Now the video is a net slut. It gets around everywhere. All the people who didn't dedicate any of their sweat and time to this now have complete access to everything that we earned as a colony. It was all under a schedule though. We were never ment to "not discover the truth". I'm 100% sure they had people dropping clues, or even leaking answers, so that they could keep to their timeline. We were all just part of a big interactive commercial. What did we get out of it in the end? they "upgraded" ourcolony.net for us, but like most microsoft upgrades, it sucks worse then the original. Sure looks flashy though.

Sometimes, with games like these, the reward is the experience you had playing the game and the people you met in the process, not a big, physical prize.

True that. My reward was finding this community. I followed the I Love Bees game, but had no real resources or community to collaberate with, so I basically just watched the game unfold and didn't really participate. Now that I've found this place and feel that I've participated (somewhat), I'm willing to give other games a try, and hopefully make friends with other gamers.
And, honestly, for the work I put in, I enjoyed the video. I'm satisfied, but I can see how some people might be disappointed.

this wasn't a very tight nit community though. Not like cloudmakers or the beekeepers. I gaurentee that everyone involved won't be involved with each other on as large of a scale as right now, anymore. I'm sure little groups of cooperators will still keep in touch, but what are they to do now? Really, we were supposed to figure out the truth the entire time, but the truth was just that video. Sure its a nice pretty video, but they stressed us to find out the truth the entire time. It was scheduled ot be given to us at only a certain time. And now it wasn't even given to US. it was given to the world. What was the point of ourcolony? It was hype. Not nearly as good of hype as ilovebees either. We got played people. They saw the arg community as something they could manipulate and take advantage of. Sure we're all up for manipulation! But to be taken advantage of? I certainly do not feel rewarded for playing. I could've not played and still seen every single one of the prizes.

I can see your point. I guess my point of view is skewed because I have no frame of reference, having never really participated in a game like this before, so I've never reaped the rewards.
It does kind of suck that there was nothing just for the colonists (except THX, maybe). It would have been better if the video was buried in the site somewhere and took some effort to get to.

While I agree with you that the reward was Playing the game and meeting new people. If they are going to offer a reward for playing, shouldn't that reward be for those who played?

Hi, novaKain.
I sympathize with your frustration. But stick around, okay? I didn't play OurColony, but from what I have observed, it wasn't really an ARG.
[sits back, waits for argument ]
You're probably right in that the larger group of players won't keep in touch. I don't think the game was really geared toward forming a cohesive community. Even among ARGs, it seems like there are differing levels of emphasis on community-building. ILB was very community-oriented (I type this as I prepare to leave for the Chicago Hivemeet), but not all games are going to focus as intensely on the community aspect.
But like I said, stick around. I have a feeling that some good stuff is going to be launching in the not-too-distant future, and if you keep an eye out for the launch, you can be there from the beginning.
And trust me, when you play a good one, you won't feel taken advantage of. Quite the contrary.

Oh I'm well aware that it isn't really an ARG It says so itself! hehe. I've had a suspicion from the start though that it was going to be turning into a full fledged arg. I hope it does soon! I'm all full of angst and frustration because of this tease!

I think in the credits at the end of the OurColony vid, ARGcolonists was written as Agronomists.
