It's getting hard to organise my thoughts right now. So many theories, ideas and specs spinning through my head. Which thread will it go in? Well for now it's this one, so here goes.
Time is a strong element of the game and this latest theory was the result of lots of snippets of info i've digested today, so I can't really explain exactly where it came from. Anyway, the general upshot of the theory is that somehow it is us who go back in time and steal The Cube and bring it to Earth in order to return it to Sente. The purpose of this would be for Sente to indirectly teach us about his world by staging the theft. It's extremely complicated, but I get the feeling that eventually we will learn enough about the Academy and it's defences that we will be able to disbale 3 different types of security systems.
It's very far fetched and quite paradoxial (is that a word?), but it's the way my mind is working at the mo.
I know if I had to finish the story, this is the kind of plot twist I would write.
thats my style
time loops and paradoxes -- if it happens to us it happens to then cos were connected because of cube coming here

Hey Ted, lets remember to find the keys later, and leave them behind this sign for us!

Exactly!
The idea must've come from somewhere in the deep dark recesses of my mind. I should've know it would be Bill and Ted! The second best time travellers in Hollywood, the first being our friend Mr Martin McFly.

checked in my Pear's Cyclopedia....no entry in the events section for 1737.
Or indeed '36, '35, or '34.
you may be interested to know that Loraine ceded to France in 1738.

Anything small and metallic of indeterminate mass? That can't be exposed to water? Or acetone and liquid mercury?

the horoscopes on the sentinel seem to be based on a regular year. I think a perplex city year is the same as one of ours.

He was just referring to the firebox ad from the pre-game http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=87358

Yup. That's the description of the Cube. I've uploaded a Cube profile to the Wiki.

# 573 BC = 1164 - Probable date of the founding of the Academy
Some intersting events in 1164 found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1164
In my mind, this may be the most relevant: Archbishop Rainald von Dassel brings relics of the Magi from Italy to Cologne.
Searching "relics of the Magi" on google brought me here: http://www.traces-cl.com/archive/dic99/seustuk.html
Interestingly there is a mention of the passing of Halley's comet sometime between 12 B.C. and 5 B.C. (Earth) in a sidebar at the bottom that page. Remember the article about the signing of the Halley Peace Accord?
Just some wild [SPEC]!!

Might be a bit abstract but in 1737...
"May 28 — The planet Venus passed in front of Mercury. The event is witnessed during the evening hours by the amateur astronomer John Bevis at the Royal Greenwich Observatory. As of 2005, it is still the only such planet/planet occultation that has been directly observed."
