Sloppy style in the Sentinel, eh? That'd be pretty much in keeping with the typos that appear in most local newspapers, then?
Or do you think that any journo worth his/her salt worries much about proof reading when the paper has to be out on time to please the clamouring masses?
By the son of a local journalist...

Of the 'Magnificant Seven', Tippy is the one that interests me the most (not in that way - don't get any ideas!) because all the others are members of one of the departments of the acadamy (cryptology, natural sciences etc) but she seems to be a 'wild card'.
I reckon that when the cards come out there's a possibility that her's are especially important. Then again there's a lot of trees and I just like the look of this one to bark up.

I've sent many letters to Sentinel corrections about misspelling (calender instead of calendar!) and punctuation, and to the Academy (offering my services even!), but I've never gotten any response or correction noted. Ah well.
Only one solution to this; submit a View From Earth article to them on the subject. Better yet, deliberately make grammatical errors that contain a coded message and challenge them to brush up on their grammar to solve the puzzle - they'll eat that sort of thing up.
P.S. I'm really self-conscious that I've made all sorts of punctuation mistakes in this reply now....

you know, the code Aunt Josephine uses to tell them where she is. It's not very complicated, but it's a kids' book so I spose it wouldn't be!

I happen to know, the sentinel does reserve the right fFix gramatical errors in submissions. I sent them something which they accepted, but they went and fFixed all my fFs. Now i'll grant you, it could be the editors are annoyed by em and that was that. Or they throw stuff through a spellchecker, which doesnt know about all the subtleties of grammar. Whatever the case, they do edit/proofread, just not always.

I'm totally new to all this so please be patient with me.
Is it me or is it a coincidence that when I googled and found George Perec at the Modern World website, the logo at the bottom of the page is the same as the guy's hair in the Whipsmart shop?
Somebody catch me i think i'm falling....

Um, I think it's probably just coincidence. If it isn't, what could it possibly mean?
Besides, the site with the info on Perec (and the other authors) is OOG.
Oh, and I've never read Lemony Snicket but I guess great minds think alike
