[PRESS] I Love Bees/42 article at East Bay Express There is a well written article about 42 Entertainment and a behind-the-scenes look at ILB written up in this weeks' edition of the East Bay Express
http://www.eastbayexpress.com/issues/2005-05-18/news/feature.html
There also seems to be a hint of a puzzle going on in the article as well. Note the first letters of the first 10 lines. And it mentions more than once that Alex Handy (the article's author) is missing. Anyone have an actual copy of the paper to see if there's more stuff hidden in it?
Just when you thought it was safe to read the newspaper.
EDIT: Pointed link to archived article -vpi

Interesting. I also note several typos(?) and strange phrase-ology.

I'll pick up a stack.
...okay no obvious kloos that I see. I'll
see if I can
scan in the cover and the first page with the picture of Elan in his bathrobe.
...check out page nine:
"The company also is designing its own clothing line with a built-in game. You heard right. But that mystery won't be fully revealed until the fashions hit the streets this summer."

I also thought it odd that they kept calling her, The Melissa.
(and um, themelissa.com is like, a placeholder page, as far as I could tell. hee hee.)

Did anyone notice that the second paragraph on the first page of the story mentioned "classified ads" twice as something that could be lying to you? Also the last paragraph of the story mentions "classified ads" also. I'v started looking through the classifieds of East Bay Express but haven't found anything yet.

http://gism.net/ looks to have lots of weirdness that I just started looking at. The linked image (top right) goes to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Vonguard
which I'm quoting for posterity -
VonGuard does not normally lie. When he does so, it is in such a way that you would immediately know he was fibbing. Here is a VonGuard truth: he is, in fact, an editor. He is also, strangely enough, cryptic, mean, and generally a sticky wicket when encountered online.
Here is a VonGuard lie: he is now made almost entirely of wood. The rest of him is made up of scrunched up bits of VHS tape that have been savagely ripped from old Monty Python episodes.
Here is another VonGuard truth: He always leaves a trail.
"always leaves a trail." HMMmm!
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Okay, the three little horizontal lines at the left? the top goes to http://gism.net/what.html which is full o' kloos. Of course the rest of you have already found this by now, but what the heck, I was distracted momentarily by the GDC pictures.

Ha ha, I loved how evil I came across in that one.
Quote:
Over the course of the game, the princess -- whose whereabouts were known to the hive mind -- had succeeded in eluding the Melissa's watchful eye. But during one live call, when the Melissa asked a player known as Weephun where the girl was hiding, he betrayed her location on the ILoveBees Web site. Forty Two was astonished he'd given her up: The players loved the cherub who, after all, was just an innocent kid. But instead of killing off the little girl, the team turned the problem into a new game: Free the sleeping princess.

Very good article! It's a bit long, but worth it.

Well, as per the question on the site...
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Daffy Ducks final words at the end of that movie is either "Is That All?" or "It's getting so you have to kill yourself to sell a story around here." depending on if the version had the suicide shot censored or not... any ideas on what goes from there? Also, how did you get "shropshire"?

Okay, does anyone know for sure whether "Alex Handy" is the reporter's real name? I know some people talked to him -- is he a real reporter at the East Bay Express?

Okay, yes, I am an idiot.
He's a real reporter, it appears. His articles in the East Bay Express go back to January of 2003.

That is *so* not what Elan looks like in my head.
Nice article. I thought it was strange that they called her "the Melissa" too.
