WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT?

I'm new to the game, having only just taken an interest recently following the Culture Show on BBC. I am at the moment a little perplexed as to what we're supposed to do. I have read all the story and understand that we're looking for the cube that was stolen from PC, but how does all this fit into the puzzles? I've been looking at the puzzles and all they seem to do is to give a keyword or a number..are these supposed to direct us somewhere? And what are the points all about? I've not seen any cards myself yet since they are unavailable to buy from Firebox, and only have the pictures to go by from already solved puzzles.

Can someone explain how these puzzle cards link in with the whole PC story in a practical sense? And how do you know what the puzzle is and if it's solved properly?

I don't know if I'm on my own here, but this does seem really confusing at them moment, and there's just too much stuff on this site to make sense of. Someone HELP!

I think we were all confused by the puzzle cards in the beginning, so don't feel bad Smile Just read this interview, and you'll have all of your questions answered.

Also, keep in mind that we don't have any proofs of correct solutions now because the leaderboard is not up yet. But that's probably because the game still hasn't really started yet (insert obligatory sigh here). When it does, I'm sure all this will sort itself out.

First, no need to yell. I'm sure Wishi's ninja skills will polish up your title very quickly, but in the future, lowercase please.

Second, don't panic. Perplex City actually isn't as confusing as you might think. The obvious first place to look is the Wiki. http://wiki.incognitus.net/ppc/index.php/Main_Page It's a repository for any and all information on the game, and is updated about as quickly as hands can type. Next, your questions.

I assume you mean the puzzlecards, and they are there to familiarize Earth inhabitants with the way Perplex City works on a day to day basis, and to get us used to the way the trail will likely be when we actually hunt for the Cube.

Yes, but not yet. http://www.perplexcity.com will have much on the puzzlecards shortly.

The points are meant to be a fun way of judging your skills against the other PPC players at the main Perplex City page. It's not working yet, so nothing to be concerned about.

As said above, it's a way to get us used to the style of thought that's natural in Perplex City. Their equivalent of Football is academic games- something we're naturally not adept at. (Although ARG people tend to be the exception, not the rule.)

I hope I just did.

Try the Perplex City in 60 Seconds Guide, too... ah, self-promotion.

It seems like your main question, though, is how the puzzles on the cards will relate to the overall challenge of finding the cube. The answer to which is: we don't rightly know just yet.

EDIT: Oh, and if you have any more questions, then feel free to PM/email/IM me. So many communication options!

Thanks guys. Seems a bit clearer.
Obviously the true meaning of the puzzle cards will become clear in time, but at the moment its just a way of exercising the mind and giving a lil information of the PC ppl (and the map on the back of them). It does seem that you don't need to buy a card to win the prize, but it does help to answer the puzzles and see the information. Guess its more like proper detective work than solving puzzles...think I'll have to watch more episodes of Columbo to tune my sluething skills.

...and just one more thing...lol
