there are also numbers along the vituvian mans side, i've looked at other versions and don't see the numbers there?
[edit] Looking at the numbers again it's a fibbonacci sequence.
1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21
I still don't see it on any other versions of the vetruvian man

Hot topic already - I thought the book was a fair riddle though the final chapters made me wanna rip it to shed.
Hmm....this is just distracting me from everything else...fair game though, I am not suprised about the movie after the sales though an ARG seems well cheesey...

I really hope lots that the Da Vinci Code could be made into an ARG.
This is my attempt at the message in the trailer - if anyone can make sense of it, they are better people than I!

I SO hope this is an ARG! Looking at it logically, it's not really plausible that they will release yet another time-waster based on the Divinci code, so this is either a collection of puzzles like on the book cover, or it's an ARG.
If it's an ARG I can't see it evolving around the story, probably around the background. I think Dan Brown and his crew are in tune with the ARG world, anyone who's completed the time-waster would know that they used lots of ARG-type puzzles - including a phone call.
So I hope... I REALLY hope...

This would be a great ARG, although I'm not so sure about it being a great movie. However, if you've read the book, it's gonna be super easy, unless the makers go way off and create a new Da Vinci code. Hm.. perplexing. I'm gonna go snoop around this one.

Nothing new i'm afraid, just clearing stuff up.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Just to clarify, the text in the trailer does say "Hitherto shalt thou come but no further"
I deleted most of my paintshop pro snaps that show this better, but you can see what it is from these... just about.

So... I won't pretend to have read to book. Where does the Bible pasage in to The Da Vinci Code story?
Nothing ARGish has happened so far but it's still fun to find all the hidden codes and stuff.

I believe it's something like this, I read the book a long time ago.: (Included the spoiler tag for those who haven't read the book and want to..)
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
One of the bad guys in the book finds out the supposed location of a very important item after killing one of the guardians of said item, so he goes on to find it by following the clues and after a few of them he thinks he has discovered the treasure, just to be lead to that passage. As he knew the bible he knew he had been tricked..

It looks to me like:
˝ (1 + √5)
Which is one way of representing the number phi (about 1.618.......)
If you take a number from the Fibonacci sequence and divide it by the previous number in the sequence, the result is approximately phi. The larger the numbers in the sequence, the closer the approximation.
In the novel
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
the major character talks for a couple of pages about how often phi occurs in nature.

Well, having many people refference me to this book, (And the last multi-person refferenced boom for me [the HitchHiker'sGuide] turning out so darned well) I think I'll buy this book tomorrow.
Looks... very intriguing to say the least, i hope I'm in for a treat.

That would make a pretty cool ARG, wouldn't it?

Unfortunately, due to the dark trenches of copyright law and the rising trend of suing for anything and everything, creating an ARG based on this would be limited to the decision of marketing types who don't understand how much it would benefit them.
Wouldn't it be nice to just sit down and say "Hey, let's make an ARG based on this", without having to beg the corporate overlords for their blessings?

Oooh, if only this would be an ARG, and not a little timewaster... If only, if only... *sighs with longing* I did love that book, really quite a fun read. Of course, things'd have to differ from the book.... Considering, well.... The puzzles there were... already solved.
Admittedly, I do wish that Mr. Brown had done his reasearch better... And considered the names of his characters more... (Robert Langdon and Sophie Neveu? *loud coughing ensues*) But I still liked the book. A lot.
God! If only this would be an ARG, and not a little... thing!

I must say that I really enjoyed the book...a bit predictable once the direction was cast, but enjoyable none the less!
I DO hope that a game of some sort evolves from the book.
As for Dan Brown I enjoy his writing style...I've read all of his books...DaVinci Code, Angels and Demons (Which I actually liked better than the Code) Deception Point and I'm on Digital Fortress...
Plus he is from the same state...and since New Hampshire is such a small state we like to support our own out there...lol...
I mean, after all, there aren't too many of us to begin with...
I do believe Mr. Brown is an ARG'er however as all his books feature some kind of puzzle that must be solved to continue forward...
Hopefully he'll reward us with his blessing and forgo the Legaleese and allow an ARG to occur...
I'll keep my fingers crossed....
