hey, from a newbie. This is all very interesting, and I have signed up on the main site. As I have missed the pregame, I guess all there is to do is wait?

PS. I now understand caesar shifts and vigenere cyphers, so even if I get completely lost I will walk away a more knowledgeable person. I read about this in PCG, and figured that it is one of the more educational things I can do with my spare time, learning about cryptology, tracing, puzzles and suchlike.

thanks guys Laughing
I think PCG would be pretty pleased at the impact their article had. Maybe we will run into them someday.

any idea what quarter this game is slated to start in? I would say pretty soon, what with the updated video being released, which I figured was the opening move of the next stage.

EDIT - what is META?

It probably already started. Unless it was a bunny. But, anyway, I think that we're all expecting for stuff to really really really start happening this Friday. Btw, have you read up on other things that happened after the video update?

META is sort of not-in-game, organizational information.

Right. Looking forward to friday, then Smile

I have been flicking through the wiki, and correct me if I'm wrong, but most things post vid have been articles in the sentinel (apart from the meet.)

well, there was the email puzzle. All we can do now is read the sentinel and wait for whoever gets the packages.

I'm hoping that the topic title means that newbies are still looking here, but thought things could do with a reiteration of some pointers to help:

1. Get up to date by reading the wiki and the primer

2. Go find all the game sites...sometimes it's worth working through his yourself to get into the right mind-set. You can find them all over the forum.

3. Use the search command at the top right before you post, it saves us covering old ground and keeps the forum clutter free. It also saves you from trawling through endless threads (very trying!)

4. Personal Message (PM) existing players with questions that you don't want to ask on the forums or anything you're unsure about...everyone's freindly and willing to help. If you happen to PM someone grumpy, try someone else Very Happy

And, just to add to mikeyJ's thing, also worth a try if you have questions is the chat room (irc.chat-solutions.org channel #syzygy, or this link), or adding me or anyone with the little msnm logo at the bottom of our messages to msn messenger (or AIM or ICQ or whatever other weirdos use) Smile

Have fun Smile

Maybe a good idea would be to schedule a chat time to answer all the noobies questions. Would help them come up to speed and also ehlp keep the forums unclogged. (Not that I have time to organize... Sad )

Using this forum for it's purpose:

A friendly hello,

from soneone who is new to the big ARGS (I observed ILB while doing my dissertation), but has played and run plenty of smaller LARPS and ARG type games for a group of thirty or so. I have no speculation or tripe to add, but I'm looking forward to checking all the work done so far myself Wink

Nice to be on board...

I don't understand this. Why are people reading so much into certain pictures and things when the game hasn't even started? Surely all clues etc will be given in the game? And I don't think any clues would be hidden around before hand to give certain people a head start as it isn't very fair.

I'll wait to receive an email from them first and then when the game begins I'll look at all the information presented by them and then start.

The game technically has started.. just it hasn't had it's launch yet

Just wanted to say hello ,

I'm new to ARGS, Found Perplex City at firebox and have spent the last few days getting up to speed. I'm really looking forward to playing.

Does anyone know an estimate of how many people are playing?

Is it best to stick to one ARG at a time or can you play more than one?

That's it for now I'm sure we will speak again once Perplex City get going.

Chat soon
Fuji

my wild guess would be that about 3000 people are following PxC ( not all of them are on this forum) , if you have the time to follow multiple ARGs then great, I can barely scrape together the spare time to follow one, there is alot of reading and thinking involved in keep up with/ ahead of the game... good luck and welcome.
