Hey, looking at the TalkSport website, it looks like we might have more trouble with recording some part of it than we did with the BBC - see here for more details. That is quite a prominent link on the Listen Now page, so I guess that they take it rather seriously... £70-80 for it on CD does not sound nice...

I will be able to get hold of an mp3 version of the broadcast and will whack it on here no worries...
all I know as to whether it is live or pre-rec'd is that apparently it involved a lot of high-tech tomfoolery to be able to organize the interview. my contacts aren't saying any more than that.
and as to the nature of my contacts; my user id and the online presence i have (more so in the online cannabis community than in forums like this) means it would be unwise to link myself to anyone whose employers might be reading. I don't want to sound all cloak-and-dagger but it's best to be on the safe side! Lets just say it's a very reliable source and i have no illegal dealings with them!

i took it to mean some kind of satlink rather than inter-dimensional communication! but i guess they could be whistling the MC tune if they want to keep this as a regular feature

BBC radio have an online "listen again" feature so that you can listen to any of the last week's programmes whenever you want online. Is there any chance talksport do the same??

Am I the only one excited by the prospect of hearing Scarlett's voice!? Thought so
I did notice however these 'tune in' listings:
I'll chose sky - recording that shouldn't be too hard, even if it is on a video.

I'm going to try and get a copy too, but it will depend upon me either getting up to hit 'record' or setting up a scheduled task to run it and not forgetting to turn my machine off on Sunday night. Basically, don't rely on me either but I'll do my best...

Just listened to the interview, and apart from comparing the cube to the mona lisa and the crown jewels, and the fact that perplexians find earth's many cultures really fascinating, in the rest of the 4min 30sec interview Scarlett mentioned perplexcity.com, the cards through firebox.com, thescarlettkite.com and the £100,000 prize.
Her voice sounded like a giddy 30-year old woman! (sorry, i'm tired and grumpy!)
Edit: Damn your nimble fingers!!!

The cube is traced via an electromagnetic signal...
and she's forgotten the exchange rate 'cos she said £100k was 2 million lecks - picky picky...

I hate to say I told you so...
But, on the other hand, that stuff about how they're tracing the Cube is genuinely new...Sente has gone on record as saying that the Academy wasn't worried about being able to trace the Cube's location. But we had no idea why, or how. So, if it gives off an electromagnetic trace...what can we deduce from that about its likely makeup??
Again, we appear to have confirmation that, whilst the *signal* the Cube is emitting is evidently pinpointable to the Perplexians (or some Perplexians anyhow), they can't (for whatever reason) transfer themselves to Earth and retrieve it.
Although it hardly constitutes dramatically new revelations, most of what is going on can be made to make (approximate) sense:
1. The Perplexians have lost the Cube, but Sente is being honest when he maintains they still have the ability to pinpoint its location on Earth.
2. There is some truth in the idea that matter proper cannot be transfered between the City and Earth, and so, the Perplexians cannot simply send out a task force to retrieve the Cube (and what fun would that be anyway?)
3. Sente, having deduced the Cube's location, elects to try an unusual plan - to enlist the aid of the people who are actually *on* Earth in order to retrieve the Cube physically (?)
4. The best way to do this (?) is to code information as to its whereabouts to Earth beings through the traditional Perplexian mode of puzzles, encipherment etc...and Mind Candy will act as the 'go - betweens' for the set - up.
I'm not saying we didn't already know all this, but it does fit together (fairly) neatly, given the tidbits of new information. Of course, we are left with the problem of how the Cube got to Earth in the first place - was it deliberate? or an accident? - but I'm well aware we've discussed that plenty in other threads, and are no nearer a conclusion.
This also appears to reinforce the idea that there may be a physical 'treasure hunt' ahead of us in order to unearth the Cube...although I could still be wrong on that...
Do any of us know if there are likely to be 'follow up' broadcasts? As I said last post, there might, of neccessity, be more useful information given if Scarlett is talking to 'us' over a length of time...

I too thought she sounded much older than her depictions made her seem.

I don't think she sounded older, she's meant to be 19, she certainly sounded a bit confused as to whether she was playing an IG character or was just telling us info about the game, like the guys on the Culture Show for example. One thing that struck us when we listened to it was that she giggled a lot at stuff that wasn't that funny, like Fran being murdered "hee hee, that was scary!" which made her seem less genuine. Could have been nerves, but the way she described the way the interview was done, it wasn't meant to be all that live anyway!
She's not as elloquent as you'd expect a budding journalist to sound in real life either!
