CCG Card trading

This whole thing has piqued interest in CCGs. Excluding Magic, any suggestions on a game that will get me up to speed on the world of CCGs before the puzzlecards get released?
I was also wondering, if anyone is a die hard player, how does card trading work? Is there money involved?

Pokemon cards! Yay!

/me slaps himself with a big wet fish to try to snap back to reality

As for card trading, it's either 100 rares for 1 super-dooper special, or 10 mediums + £50 for 1 super-dooper magic amazing card... Well, depending on exchange rates of course...

if you check out the counter of any comics shop you'll see there are CCGs for most sci-fi/comics/games franchises, some of them not much more complex than top trumps, some of them closer to the dungeons n dragons RPG end of things. theres also a fair few video games based on the same kind of system, mostly RPGs but i heard the new metal gear solid had a similar thing in it too. have never got into them myself but as i say, comics shops might be a good place to hang around, ask questions etc.

rach =)

If you happen to like wrestling (WWE, not actual wrestling, but 'sports entertainment') then check out Raw Deal

Great game with one of the best engines in the industry.

There is a really neat digital CCG/board game called Star Chamber. It's hard to describe, basically you buy digital cards, and build a deck, which you then use to control ships and people as they move about a map, battling and trying to gain control of the map. I havent played in a long time, but when the game first came out, the community was great and the game was fun. Now there are expansions and stuff and I'm just lost in the wind, but I do recommend the game.

Google it up!
