[ARG? Nope.] .hack//ARG? Could this be a ARG in connection with the .hack franchise or just a very secure fansite? http://www.hiddenforbiddenholyground.com

Found this in the source code:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Hey you! Yeah, you! What the hell are you looking here for? Just look at
the pretty web page. There's nothing to see here. Go away. Get a life.
I'm not quite sure if it is an ARG. Will dig some more.
EDIT: The source also refers to a website:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
http://www.monkeys.com/spammers-are-leeches/
It appears to be full of weird words and E-mail addresses.
EDIT2: The random words seem to be randomly generated. By the sounds of the forum discussion this is a timewaster puzzle. I'm not so sure though.

I would wet myself (in a good way, if there is one) if someone came up with a .hack// ARG...
*checks it out to see what he can find...*

Uh... I just got my IP denied and banned for excessive failed log in attempts... *sigh*.
EDIT: WTF? They said they are going to notify my ISP! I tried to log in about three times with random letters to see if the failed log in page had any secrets. That sucks.

Not that I know of, which is quite suspicious.

I've tried e-mailing acctmgr and dh2admin @ hiddenforbiddenholyground.com to see if that might lead me somewhere. They haven't bounced back as non-existant e-mail addresses yet, so we'll see if that turns something up. I haven't tried the user050530_141221_65_189_105_85SPLAT hiddenforbiddenholyground.com address found in the source yet because it says that e-mailing that is "forbidden" which usually wouldn't bother me but if others are getting their IPs banned from attempting to log in three times with fake logins... I won't risk it.

But of course, the above link goes to a page with only this text (and nothing in the source code or anything):
Quote:
Due to our recent "crash", this page is currently unavailable.
Please try back later.
We apologize for the inconvenience.
Oh I will try again later. I'm holding out hope for something cool here...

Interesting. The page was available earlier today. Also note how crash is in quotations. *Hopes it is a ARG*

So, because it's rather hard to Google for, what is .hack?

.hack is the setting of four video games, as well as at least two TV series.
I never really got into them, though.

http://www.dothack.com/ has some basic information.
I guess there's at least two .hack series (they're anime). The one I know more about involves a computer game called "the World." It's a massively multiplayer online role playing game. This takes place in the future, but no more than 10 or 20 years (I believe). Anyway, this one player in the game discovers that he can't log out, and the story evolves from there. There's also a PS2 series of games based in the .hack world.
