How is is pronounced? Acheron - how do you pronounce it?
Is it Ack-a-ron, or Achey-ron? Or something completely different?
Inquiring minds want to know!

Didn't I say in #uf to look in the dictionary? I always use the online dictionary cause it doesn't take up room or cost money. D00d.

the five rivers of Hades Hey Dmax, this is just for you!
There are five rivers of Hades
Acheron - river of sadness (or woe)
Cocytus - river of lamentation
Lethe - river of forgetfulness
Phlegethon - river of fire
Styx - river of hate

And all this time, I was pronouncing it "ASH-er-ON". Oh well... I'll probably still pronounce it that way, just because I'm stubborn and stuff.

Doncha just hate it when your pronunciation of a name has been wrong for MONTHS before you find out what it should sound like? When it's a person there's no choice - gotta call him Octavis and erase that Octavius (real example, not quite on point, but excellent illustration) from the memory banks. But I'm sorry who's gonna know if I keep pronouning Acheron my own special way? Ashes, baby.

ash vs ack as a matter of interest I spotted this
ACHERON was the name given to the planet also known as LV 426 in the original ALIEN FILM its one of my all time favorites - nothing deeper than that.
How do you say it ??
We the Brits pronounce it ( A - SHA - RON )
Where as the Americans pronounce it ( AK - ER - ON )
at http://www.acheroncards.com/ looks like it could be a dialect thing! (phew - that means i can keep on calling it asheron!!)

When I hold the mouse over the name & logo I get:
\Ach"e ron\, n. (Myth). A river in the Nether World or infernal regions; also, the infernal regions themselves. By some of the English poets it was supposed to be a flaming lake or gulf.
Oooo-er....they probably know where I live & what I had for tea as well!
