Has any one noticed that eye and fly rhyme? it makes it sound like a poem

I've actually been researching poems with these words as last in lines, but with no luck so far.

Or, there could be a single word with each of these given words as a possible definition.

I have a feeling that list of words is there more than just for us to count the letters... Besides, we don't really have enough to deduce a pattern...
I'm not sure if '5,4,3,4,6,4,3' is enough to say it's a pattern.

The fact that we have 7 words makes me think of another way that we could solve this. If we could make 3 pairs with the 6 of them using a standard rule then we could probably apply the rule to the 7th word to find its pair ... don't know, maybe a long shot

EDIT: Well, oliverkeers13 was a bit faster than me. Wink

ok working on the vertical list, putting in the first letters doesn't seem to come up with much under an anagram search, but putting in the last letters comes up with FEED ..... (HKE) or HEED ..... (FKE) does adding a letter to HKE or FKE mean anything ? I can only come up with Hike which means feed hike, or Fake for heed fake which doesn't seem to make a lot of sense hmmm Confused

Futures

A possible link thrown up by several people in the irc chat...

Many of the words link up amazingly well with the futures "signs"

hand shake
baby face
eagle eye
??? work
wave length
jug head
dragon fly

Only one suggestion as to where to go from here though, "work" is the answer? A bit tenuous for my liking.

Quote:
"My children, it is only that which is absent which must be sought."

I am still unsure about how the words interlock into the quote, but this part of the puzzle seems to imply an item or property that, once you have it, you no longer need, but do not want/need to get rid of. Sticking with the crazy religious fundamentalist nature of these guys, it might be something synonymous with "belief" or "enlightenment." The unenlightened are often looking for enlightenment, but the enlightened are rarely looking to become unenlightened (Zen contradictions aside.) At the opposite end of the spectrum might be "wealth." The poor look to be rich and the rich seldom seek to be poor.

Although, now that I look at it, with this line of thinking, it could be anything. If I do not have a wallet or house keys, I have to seek them out before leaving the house.

Another possibility

If it what's not there that's important, how about looking at the letters of the alphabet not in that list of words:

QUIZ BJPVX (EDIT: ooops forgot M)

Have no idea if that in any way helps Sad

Handwork is not a stretch - it's a valid word. Though I'm not sure what that gives us as an answer..

It isn't two seperate words like the others though, and it leaves the shake with the only (real) possiblility being dice, dice shake (dice roll)...
Sounds like it was written by someone who doesn't speak English ( I do dice shake now)

For what it's worth, you can make the words:

mixup, quiz, quip, bump and jump from those letters. Dont know if that's worth anything, probably not!
