And before you guys slap a [SOLVED] on this thread, just remember that she's not the puzzlemaster here. I'm personally still not convinced that it's archer.. and we have no way of knowing it's right 'til she tries it.
Spec on IRC atm is that she's gonna activate a booby trap and blow herself sky-high when she tries it Razz

edit: Okay, now the spec is that.. Violet will die, perplexians will hate us and start an interparallel universe war, Scarlett will find a way to flee to earth and escape the chaos here. We find the cube, give it to her. Claim reward.

It's all in game! In a Conner-esque style, it follows so it's right. Violet must die, for the sake of the cube =)

edit2: ¤00:10:13¤ To make it more conner-y... seek that which is missing, the n is missing from Violet to make it "violent" so she's gonna die a violent death Very Happy woohoo

I agree, that's rubbish logic applied by someone we're meant to think is vaguely good at these things. Sorry, she's made me cross!

I'm cross too...I've never heard of spider work in my life and seems like this puzzle wasn't really thought out by the recons(!) mind you I guess their language could be a little bit different to ours so it could be an everyday saying... hmm I think everyone's a little frustrated from the lack of cards (I'm not having a go at MC but it is frustrating!) and MC have thrown us this puzzle to keep us occupied but the puzzle itself was a little annoying (not that I could even begin to make a puzzle and big respect to MC for even trying!). hmm sorry its early and I felt like having a winge.
p.s. Maybe violet deserves to be blown up as violet is an anagam of evil to! Sad

Spiderwork is NOT a word. I looked it up in the COMPLETE 2004 edition of the Oxford Dictionary, Dictionary.com and Google. IT IS ON NONE OF THEM!!!

hehehe I'm evil to! It's such a tenuous link to get to the futures. I'm not putting anybody down for coming up with the idea, but there would be so many better words you could use in the list to go with Spider. Is is dodgy puzzle writing?

I get the puzzle, but why is it archer instead of any of the following:

Balls
Dice
Maze
Apple-Thief

Because they all follow (albeit tenuously) in chronological order. The archer is missing from the sequence.. so that's where it comes from.
Bit of a laugh on IRC trying to say spiderwork enough times to get it as the most used word in the stats =) But other than that, I'm pretty sure it's not a word too. We sent her a few emails saying we weren't sure, but ah well.

Anyone know who that guy she mentioned is?

Apparently it is the order of the futures as you go through the year

Surely that can't be the right answer! Confused

If they wanted a word that fitted better after 'Spider', why not use 'Web', or even 'Monkey'?! At least both of those appear in the dictionary!

As I mentioned earlier, i still don't like 'Jug-head' either. It's not a very common phrase, nor does it appear in the dictionary. And again, if they wanted the answer to be 'Jug', why not use 'Handle' ?!

Sorry, i just don't buy this solution. Nor should Violet have bought it; considering she claims to be 'fond of words', the dozy bint doesn't even seem to own a bloody dictionary.

I dont think spiderwork needs to be a word. If you check the dictionary I would doubt jughead or babyface are in there either. The problem is that as far as I'm aware it's not even a phrase. Also Archer shouldn't be the answer, if anything it should be the partner-word to archer (whatever that could be, and I don't buy Archer Fish)

Im guessing it is right is Violets posted it as probobly being correct. It ties in with the ancient belief systems idea.
If it was wrong, the PM's probobly would had just left it.

Keep in mind that she's a character in the game too, and has no (known) affiliation with the puzzle master. It's quite possibly that she would pick an answer she deemed right, even if it's wrong. If it's wrong and we've screwed up and caused trouble.. it's gonna get more interesting =)

You've got a point. It might be deliberately wrong too, but I have a feeling that shes right. Then we can find out about the TRUE Recon's before she gets caught. Theat my theory anyway.

Well, I hadn't heard of spiderwork either, so had a look in the Oxford Dictionary myself. While it doesn't have a separate entry of its own, spider-work is listed in the under the entry for Spider in a list of special combinations of the word:
Quote:
spider-work, work having the characteristics or appearance of a spider's web

Certainly a lot less obvious than web, but it looks like it could work...
