Well you're right about him seeing Alison in his dreams, silly me hadn't thought of that. I wonder though if it was he that left the message. I also wonder if this Lisa in any way resembles Alison...maybe I'll send him an e-mail and ask!

New blog post from Derk (6/3)

He got a popup window on his computer with a weird code.

These cops really need to get back to me soon or I'm going to do something. I don't know what I'll do, but they won't like it, whatever it is.

I was talking to people in IRC and a stupid window popped up again. And it's not in English, yet again. I am really getting sick of this crap. First someone breaks into my apartment (not according to the police ofcourse), then trashes my apartment(?) and now another computer pop-up. It's enough to make someone... ARGH!

Well, maybe someone can make something out of this. I seem to lack whatever skills are needed. So, I leave this one to you.

Here it is as I saw it:

So, there it is.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
As brought up in channel, the subject appears to be an ISBN for this book

However, attempts at simple keys from this have failed.

Woohoo!!

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
If you use tony crisp as the vigenere key then do a Rot 23 you get:

Take this kiss upon the brow! And, in parting from you now, Thus much let me avow- You are not wrong, who deem That my days have been a dream; Yet if hope has flown away In a night, or in a day, In a vision, or in none, Is it therefore the less gone? All that we see or seem Is but a dream within a dream.

Which is a poem by Edgar Allan Poe, "A Dream Within A Dream"

Im at work at the moment, anyone wanna email it to Derk?

Some major updates!

First off there was a several hour IRC chat session with Derk (it's about 5am here and I'm exhausted so I'll try to post it later after some much needed sleep) where he updated his blog with the new ciphertext that was just solved. He also finally got his photo posted on the web after a few mis-tries.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The yellow bits on the windows represent binary and translate to the word NEWS

After Derk left, Alison showed up with some major updates to the story.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

She first mentioned that Derk was in danger and could be dead soon!

She then pointed us to another image that she put on Derk's site

She also gave us a new website, http://www.avelontech.com, and explained in more detail what is going on.

Basically, Derk is in a coma and is hooked to a machine that delivers an alternate reality to his brain. Alison discovered a flaw in the program and that it will shutdown prematurely. She can remove the device but she needs a password to do so, which she does not have. So for the past 6 months she has been trying to help him from inside this alternate reality and she is in fact both the dream woman and Lisa.

That will have to suffice for now. I'm heading to bed Smile

Thanks for the transcript!
Odd this talking about anagrams, I just thought before reading this that "Alison" could be an anagram for "no lisa" or "on lisa".
And here I go and read about a mysterious girl named Lisa Wink
Could of course also be "on sail", "no sail", well, there are different possibilities.

Alison Young could be "agony in soul" aswell. Rolling Eyes

Uncensored Newspaper Article

Poking through source, I found a link to an images directory at avelontech... here's the uncensored version of the news article about derk's family

Now I'm really confused.

On Derk's page, he claims to be 23 years old. In the newly found article, he's age 3 in 1984. And on the "Get to know us"-site at AvelonTech, it says "the 'ARM' was born [...] on July 23rd, 2000".

Que?

There appear to be two versions of the newspaper:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
http://www.avelontech.com/images/newspaper12.JPG

and
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
http://www.avelontech.com/images/newspaper1.JPG

The second one has some spelling mistakes...
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The letters that are in places that they shouldn't be are:
ittpu

And the letters that not there that should be are:
edpte

Don't know if they're anagrams or they ROT to anything. Maybe its nothing, check for youself because my spelling isn't to good so i might have missed something Smile

try this....

It looks like one of the newspaper articles is also a web page. The page is the same as the "correct" (or is that the incorrect. Poop, I don't know) version of the newspaper article, but with a little twist. http://www.avelontech.com/newspaper1.html

Curious, I visited the above link to find
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
the intro to the Aerosmith song "Dream On" playing. Now I can see why that song would be appropriate, but I don't understand why the company would have such a thing on its site? Think maybe Lisa is responsible??

Then I smackemyself on the forehead and plugged the title in to the browser and ended up with this:
