[SPEC] Is Jon Harker a baddie?

From the hewhowalksamongus site:

Quote:
Just like the snake in Eden (to which he owes his occasional serpentine tail), he will try to persuade and convince you with a mixture of truth and lies; he will be so very believable.

From the flash books:

Quote:
ophidia in herba ['snake in the grass']

The hewhowalksamongus site is linked to in the horoscopes on the Hornchurch Star website. It says that
Quote:
You are searching for answers. Fate will reveal them at www.hewalksamongus.com
The Hornchurch site is owned by S&S, right? It is at least designed by Marlowe Digital. So why are they linking to an anti-S&S website?

Jon's contract password:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
No password, so maybe no contract?

Is it possible that our hero has been working for the bad guys all along? Maybe S&S are sucking people into an ARG in order to get our souls. That would be an interesting twist, making the game itself part of the game!

...and I forgot to mention Jon's entry on 3rd September in the Cache:

Quote:
Hold this thought: "If you can't beat 'em. Join 'em."

and 18th October:

Quote:
"If you can't beat 'em, join 'em."

Maybe Jon's fear of the Man in Black was so great that he agreed to help them to get more souls in exchange for his own. He is a web designer after all. Maybe he worked at Marlowe Digital, despite his Cache entries suggesting that he didn't?

i'd just like to add 2 things to this

- the Services options contract: Love Lust and Debauchery that I mentioned before.

- the mobile phone in the Hiding Room: Den Horen and Antonio Carde
although why would he leave those here himself?

still doesn't get us any closer to solving the s+s puzzle though.

Sad as it sounds, I guess it would make sense. Why kill off the hero before we're anywhere close to solving this, unless he's actually a villain?

I feel like despite all the recent activity on this and Brigid's photos, we're still no closer to getting to the bottom of it. I have a nasty feeling that there's nothing left to go on. Although I may be forced to eat my words...

You would think that there is something Dracula-related in all this. I mean, our main character has the same name as the main character (other than Dracula, obviously) in Bram Stoker's Dracula. This is even pointed out in The Cache in case we missed it.

Having said that, a lot of the names in the game seem to be just the PMs having fun with the names of characters from various books and films. Brigid is a baddie from the Maltese Falcon, Jon is a vampire hunter, Den Horen is a play on the Stella logo etc etc.

This game might have too many red herrings to make it a good puzzle. I really hope that when the answer comes out we all slap our foreheads and say "Of course!" rather than feeling annoyed and ripped off because the answer is something as stupid as a "321" puzzle, and we all get Dusty Bin.
