Must get tickets. Must get tickets. Must get tickets.
Turns out Joss & Summer were here at the Las Vegas screening.
All the stars at the screenings stayed to watch the movie and then sign autographs afterwards.
What a great cast!!!!!!! (I'm very happy to overuse the exclaimation points).
Now, how to get those tickets (without paying $220 on eBay)?

Wow, so it seems that some of these screenings have been selling out before the official site even lists them, which is a) awesome and b) annoying and c) awesome. People have been finding screening links on fandango and movietickets.com.
[edit] Ok, the official list is up. [/edit]
I just got tickets to the screening near Philly (about an hour's drive from here). Yay!
<-- I've been up all night finishing up some work, so forgive me if I sound at all insane. Although I can't imagine how that would happen.

Omnie, congrats on getting your tickets! Both of the Boston shows sold out far too quickly for me to get any Hopefully there will be sneak previews like this all summer long!

Now, wait a minute. Last night we went to Fandango, and couldn't find it in Las Vegas. And it's already sold out????
This is getting frustrating. Konashark is leaving the country and won't be around for the official opening. I was really hoping we can get in to see the movie before he leaves. Guess he'll have to wait for the DVD next year.

Kona, I read yesterday that there wasn't a Vegas showing this time around.
But either way, yeah. Grrrr.

getting tickets Looks to me like the strategy is to call the theater for tickets the moment you learn about the date and time. Even if you can't be sure if the theater is going to show it. The cantstopthesignal site was utterly useless this time, near as I can tell as pretty much all the shows were sold out before the site updated.
Any ideas on how we can create that all-important "buzz" hollywood is so moved by? Maybe if enough of us call our local theaters to inquire about Serenity's release...it's not unheard of for a studio to move up the release date of a film.

Sorry, guys. Yes, cantstopthesignal was absolutely useless if you happened to live near the cities that got sold out early. I sorta kept an eye on the relevant thread over at whedonesque.com, because that mostly had the up-to-date information. Yeah, but that option depends on how free your mornings are. I wonder what the exec guys thought of the mess...maybe they'll do it differently next time, if there are more of these.
Does anyone know what Universal gets out of doing this at all? The first time around, ok, they wanted to get reactions and make fans more excited. Sure, test screenings. But having more of them, many in the same cities as the first time around? I don't understand what they're trying to accomplish. Not that I'm complaining, mind. I'm really really not complaining. But still, wha?

Very good question. I've been wondering myself. I like to think of it as guerilla tactics to encourage an earlier release date.

Wow, that was...wow. Guys, it's good. I have no idea what it looks like to a non-Firefly-watcher-person, but as a Firefly watcher person? It's gooood.
Try really hard not to get spoiled.

My (new) co-worker had never heard of Firefly (*gasp*)! So I brought my DVD set to work. It's a 3-day holiday weekend here in The States, and he needed something to occupy his time. By Tuesday, I fully expect to have recruited another rapid fan for the show and future movie.

Beyond all sense and reason.
Has anyone read the comic book yet?
