Hideko is Naoko's sister. if you go into the NAoko directory with user: my and pass: wife you will encounter reference to her. In summary, Virgil was trying to get her to pose as Naoko after death for the purpose of getting tenure at a university. Later, he considers having a child with her.

Nice, but can't see a pattern Sad maybe if we look at it in 3D?

You missed demise at ( 3,14, 4) ( 1,19, 0).. I'm just bringing it up because then you'll have 5 words on the 5th sheet, with 3 overlapping letters and two letters from words in other planes.. Interesting..

uh, yeah... I guess I missed something. I had read the first page of text, but missed the embedded link to the subsequent pages.

My, my, old Virgil really is a bit... odd. It seems to work for him, however, judging by him lady friends. I may have reconsider the merits of sanity.

As you can see, they are all pretty short, and given the number of candidate words, its possible they are just accidental... Sorry that they aren't sorted, but I don't know what ordering would be best. It's pretty easy to copy this to a text file, then use the "sort" command from the command line to re-order on whatever column you like.

 		Have to get to bed, but check out these links. Someone posted somethign interesting on sa3 yesterday, as their first post. No one responded, and Todd posted.. I'm assuming to make sure we didn't overlook it. A little research and here's what I foudn;

Take a look at page 6-4 in that pdf. Those squares look a lot like our cube, and the decode makes a 'loop' that looks sort of like the ouroboros in my mind.. This can't be coincidence.

Wow, that's too much for me to absorb at this time of night. I get the basic idea - mask the underlying frequency of the plaintext by doing letter substitution two letters at a time - but application is beyond me right now.

I did look at the frequency of letter usage once, and if I remember correctly it wasn't completely flat, but flatter than I would have expected, so maybe... Still, if the cube is encrypted this way, wouldn't we need the key to decode it? It could be nearly anything.

I think I'll wait and see what else this Alc cat has to say before I jump on this one...

 		Wait.. you mean these words apear more than once??? I'm so confused right now because my main assumption has always been that we found all the words in the cube, and I had no idea there were other instances elsewhere..

I can only offer more spec .. but maybe that's what virgil has been telling us? The words repeat! Find them all...

Maybe a list with all the words and number of occurances for each? I'm just looking for patterns here but so far nothing makes sense

 		Okay.. more progress, although it doesn't lead anywhere..

I always thought we crossed out all the words form the cube, and the remaining letters were too much to form anything..

Well, a while ago I found out that the words actually REPEAT! so we didn't find all of them...

Using the "Helper Tools" suite I generated the entire word list (3 GB!!) And then ran it through a comprehensive database full of virgil words, standard words, and additional words which might be useful... filtered that and ran the results through redraw..

Results? Almost every letter in the cube was gone! That's right.. 99% of that cube consists of words.. I have no idea how they did that.. either my method is borked or the cube is truely evil!

There are only 4 letters that remain.. Q, J, X, Z

I don't know what to do with it next.. Is this just a coincidence?? Did I do something wrong and got weird results?? I have no idea.. this cube is full of hidden stuff that doesn't make sense...

Yeah, that surprised me as well Ehsan, and would give the latest Virgil rant a whole new slant.

Maybe helper can clarify, but when he/she says "increase the step size" does that imply to include non-contiguous characters? i.e, a stepping vector of 2 would gather every other character. If this is the case, it may be better to concentrate on the unit vector results for now.

 		Yeah well now that I think about it, the results could be pointless. Considreing that X J Q Z have the lowest letter frequencies in the english language, it could make sense why they weren't used... hmm

Well, if this is how the code works, then the cube isn't really ciphered, instead the cube IS the key, and we're missing the cipher text. Now, it's possible the cipher text is hidden in the cube somehow I imagine. There's no reason the cipher text itself couldn't look like valid words with this sort of cipher.
