New York Radio Station Appearance

Hi folks, Dave Szulborski here, for anyone who doesn't know my UF alias of cabalagent23.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I will be interviewed on a New York City radio show this Thursday night at 12 midnight. The radio show is called Beyond Strange and Mysterious and the entire one hour show will be devoted to alternate reality gaming. The show will be broadcast on WSNR AM 620 from 12 AM to 1 AM beginning Thursday night and into Friday morning. I'm told that the station's coverage area includes New York, New jersey, most of Pennsylvania and Connecticut, and that they have areas where they are syndicated too.

During the show, I'll try and introduce ARGs to the new radio audience that may be listening, while answering the hosts' questions about the genre, my past, current, and future games, and my book, This Is Not A Game. I'll try to get around to discussing some upcoming projects I've already announced on my website, such as the Chasing The Wish graphic novels and the mysterious Project Game Light that has ARG fans and creators so intrigued.

Because of the show's normal subject matter - strange, mysterious, and unexplained events - and existing audience, the conversation could stray in any direction as we discuss the unique way in which ARGs blend reality and fiction. It should be fun, as it's my first live broadcast interview and who knows what I'm likely to say or let slip.

On a personal note, if anyone who lives within the signal area has the ability to record the broadcast for me and provide me the tape or audio files afterwards, I'd greatly appreciate it and would be willing to compensate you either with $$ or an autographed hardcover copy of my book, whichever you prefer.

I'll be glad to record it for you Dave. I'll be listening anyway. It should reach our area, right? And by that I mean Pottsville, Allentown, Reading area...

Any chance of echoing it to an online radio station afterwards?

Good luck Dave, I'm sure you're gonna rock!! Hopefully those of us outside the broadcast range will get to hear it eventually...

Me as well. If you could send me some footage of you answering some questions or something, I can get it on TV in my area (I work after school on a program for our local TV station, Channel 18 ). Next school year, I am going to be one of the hosts of a half-hour game/movie review show. PM me, email me(PM me for my e-mail address) about it, or post it on my forum(click my website below).

For everyone who can't get the radio broadcast:

I'm going to try to rig my computer to record an incoming stream from my radio, and then while it records to spit it out onto a shoutcast stream. I'll give you all more details tomorrow after I sit down and try to map this out, but I think I can pull it off.

The thing is, my shoutcast will probably be only able to hold 32 people at once due to my upstream connection isn't godly.

However, I will then host the recording on my website about 30 minutes after the show, so everyone can listen to it and download at will.

I'll give full details tomorrow once I get it all worked out. Hopefully. *Crosses fingers*

Please tell me the stream will "magically work" when it turns midnight, because it's not working for a bunch of us... Sad
