[Update] New sentinel article 13th June Northside Preserve
Quote:
Northside Preserve Development Killed
By GARIMA KING
An anonymous group of private investors calling themselves the Nature Trust have entered into a deal with the city to purchase the newly rezoned areas of the Northside Nature Preserve for an undisclosed amount, with the intention of holding the land to keep it free from development. Camryn Scott, Leader of the City Council, stated at a press conference that the offer was nearly double that of the next-highest group of developers.
"Given how much these citizens of conscience were willing to sacrifice in order to prevent this development, we on the Council entered private debates about whether to allow the development plan to be circumvented in this fashion. ... At the end of the day, we did vote six to three to allow this sale to proceed," Scott said.

A press release from Nature's Trust indicated that the group came together and pooled funds specifically in order to "keep the land wild and safe from encroaching urbanisation." The statement also said, "We should never be expanding into new wild areas when there are entire blocks of homes and businesses standing empty in the Old Town. This area, with its dazzling views of Catbite, should be premium real estate, and we encourage the Office of the Council to formulate a plan to renew this area with the proceeds from the sale of the Northside wildlands."
Although Scott would not give specific information regarding the condtions of the sale, "part of the deal includes the Office of the Council spending additional funds on trying to gentrify some of the decayed areas of Old Town, yes," agreed Scott.
Lorelei Park, CEO of Park Realty Corp., a subsidiary of Mobius Development Corp., claimed that the deal will prove to be a huge mistake in coming years. "The city is just crying out for new space," she said. "If we can't come up with new places to build very soon, then businesses will start to leave Perplex City for outlying areas. It's a real mistake, a terrible mistake."

Re: [Update] New sentinel article 13th June Northside Preser so, are they "Nature Trust" or "Nature's Trust"? I'm actually beginning to get a bit peeved at the PMs seeming inability to proof read their own stuff

Does this mean that Catbite is *categorically* to the north, then??!
I'm always kinda hoping that there's some involved noir subplot lurking behind this political manipulating - you know, as if there's some nefarious development corporation paying off the Council just so that they can build a new toxic waste dump or something in the middle of town - but somehow, I fear not.

With the new information it looks as if Catbite is North North East of the city. I.e.
Code:
Northside Catbite Alchemy
Preserve Bay
City
All still spec though. I wonder rather than Catbite being either a mountain or a gully if it might be a valley. It would be possible to "go down through" a valley, and possible to have "dazzling views of" it as well.

I dunno, i'm still pretty sure catbite is to the south. I may be wrong, but I havent seen anything contradict that.

If you take Catbite to be a large mountain range (with optional gullies) then I guess it could pretty much be anywhere and be visible? The map pieces we have seen do not seem to indicate that Perplex City is a place of massive high rise buildings (Ascendancy Point allowing) so it doesn't really tell us anything. Saying that, I was under the impression it was South or South West of the city...

Hello all
I love a good spec -
I wonder if the anonymous group is related to the group of individuals who are mentioned in the encryted file on the recon key.
Cheers

Ask Violet Maybe we should email Violet to start investigating who the members of Nature Trust are?
My speculation is that they don't want development because there is something that needs to remain hidden in the Northside Nature Preserve.

Or maybe they really are a genuinely civic-minded group who didn't want an area of natural beauty spoilt. Remember, not everything has to be a puzzle, some of it could just be there for a bit of local flavour.

But then why stay anonymous? If they are so dedicated why not let the public know who they are?
Just thinkng out loud...

Perhaps they're humble and think it would be egotistical to seek the glory.
Hang on, when I put it like that it's probably The Recons, isn't it?

Now, if you take out random letters in the article, cluing in on the idea that it's the Recon's who bought the area. (Which could actually make sense). One gets this:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
You fools! We have a portal in that nice, grassy field! We can't have that get revealed, now can we? It's our only way to Earth and the Cube!
=P
