You should have received it by now. I got mine a week after I ordered it. You might want to try calling M$ (good luck) and see what they say about your order.

You can check status on your order via the xbox.com site. Mine says it was shipped on February 18. :/ It also says "If you placed an order more than 8 weeks ago and have not received that order, please click here," but there's no link. Not that it's been 8 weeks yet, but Jesus where are they shipping from, Antarctica?

-- Steve can't argue with the exchange rate and lower labour costs, but surely shipping takes a big bite on that outsourcing...

Just when you thought it was safe to play on your Xbox again....
Xbox consoles in further safety recall
GamesPaper.com is reporting that Microsoft have issued a further safety recall in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland on Xbox power cables:
Quote:
Microsoft has issued a further safety recall on Xbox consoles, after finding that more recently manufacturered machines also suffer from the power cable issue which was causing a burning or melting of the powercord.
Previously Microsoft had stated that fewer than 1 in 10,000 consoles were affected by the problem, but had been replacing the powerleads on all machines built during a set period. They have now advised customers that all machines built before January 14th 2005 [Grifter's Note: originally it was those before October 23, 2003 for UK/IE ] may need their power lead replaced.
The letter sent to registered owners comes as a "Second Notice" and provides updated advice, telling owners that they should visit the Xbox website where the serial number can be checked to see if a free replacement lead needs to be ordered, or by calling Xbox support on freephone 0800 0289276.[Grifter's note: This is from the UK ]
As with the original safety recall, customers are advised to turn off the Xbox console when it's not in use, so as to protect from the risk of the component failure and potential fire hazard.

Hmm. I got a notice just yesterday similar to that, but it kept the October 23rd cut-off.
Perhaps it's a supplier difference; mine would be a North American build (NTSC), so could they have gotten a different supplier for the power cords?
-- Steve's 'box was made in Feb '04, so isn't terribly worried. Besides, shutting the 'box off after playing is just plain good sense if you have metered electricity.

So I *still* haven't received my power cord. So I go to the site to check on the status again and it says...
Quote:
We did not find an order associated with your serial number. If you recently placed an order, please note that it may take 48 hours for your order to appear in our systems.
So I try to put in a new order and it says...
Quote:
We have determined that an order already exists for the serial number you entered.
