Email from QND (Sept 6, 2003)

Received the following from themisstrim. Some of the wording sound funny so probably a hidden message in there somewhere (just like there was in the first round or VQC/QND)...

Quote:

 Automailo: v3.73 Ltime: 1am EST Linkmerge: OSassist Mailbin: 12
Inbound: No
 Xbound: Yes Errors: 7 Datastring: None Unpost: Yes Postalref:
tstrim
_________________________________________________________

There has been some time since we last communicated. Is this rudeness on
QND's part? No, business goes on as usual here in big "Green". Way back you
assisted us with a rather important issue surrounding key personnel. I have
been pursuing an unusual route here at QND . Can QND use the casual
consumer/websurfers as an additional set of eyes and ears? Get valuable
information and insight? An immediate answer is of course "no". Agent
assignment is not what we are talking about here, rather a select "watchdog"
group that simply informs. Login at QND may take many forms for such a
group. However, as I alluded to, talks are still in discussion.

You can anticipate follow-up from me regarding this in the future. Can you
or would you be interested in such a role? Enter this thought process with
some serious thinking. The answer you arrive at should not be rushed into.
Message after message fills our general email banks with worthless insights
into internet abuses. Log (or capture) your thoughts, think, think, think.
With this type of thought you can be assured of a sound decision.

Renfleno (one of the pioneers here at QND) once said, "let the past not be
what we look forward to". There are many that can quote this, but it is
something I truly use to inspire those around me. Is it meaningful to you?
Another point to ponder, I guess. Leak that phrase into your daily routine
and things WILL happen. From my team to you, thanks again and stay tuned.
Within a few short months a decision will be made, one way or another. Help
is always a useful thing!

Regards,
Themis Strim

"renfleno" (all lowercase) is the password to access QND's messaging system on their website ( http://www.quantumnetwork.net/ )

I got this message to, does this mean that only those of us who played last time are the only ones who can play this time?

Formatted for your approval

I got sick of trying to scroll across pages of scattered chat dialog, so I arranged them into whole conversations. This might be a bit easier for someone who just wants to read the whole thing.

Of course, it's spoilers.

It seems like "DukeDelany" has been having strange logins under his name. This sounds to me like a key point to getting into the Agent login.

I thought the Log-In was an educated guess....I know...I know, dastardly simple, but for those who also missed it (probably none Smile ):

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The first word from each sentence spells:
There is no way I can get an Agent Login, however, you can enter the Message Log with Renfleno. There is another leak from within. Help.

I got a slightly different email from Ray. Note the "het eyk si medial plux" I got vs danman's "het eyk si plemix dual", although it anagrams to the same thing. I think the extra double letters are the same as danman's.

Got another one. The only thing that seems to have changed is the scrambled letters at the bottom:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
some of the wording sounded funny (again), so after digging around a bit I found that if you take all the words that occur after the "the"s, you get "Quantum activity alert QND messaging pass word Renfleno"

I guess it's another way to give us the password to the messaging system. The last bit in the email "het eyk si medial plux" is probably a clue to how to solve the Admin Broadcast message in the messaging system.

if you take the letters immediately preceeding the extra double letters in Ray's email, you get "CANYOUHELP"

Remembering the past...

In the past QND adventure, we have to decrypt a text like that one we have found in the new messaging page on quantumnetwork, at bottom of page:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
TDFTF XXOSI NHEQL RUSER IERNE OMFMM
IEEAF WPDTH RRPST RRASO ISEEN NIXWS

The keys for decrypt simil text was two words: "bjchkiefgd" and "everything".

Two words of 10 letters everyone.

http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1277

Now we have "eyvisdirll" and "medialplux" or "plemixdual". Two words of 10 letters again.

Like in the past, i think we have to use a Vigenere Decryption.

Only a problem... i can't find the key of decryption... argh

I use this tool for decrypt: http://www.central.edu/homepages/LintonT/classes/spring01/cryptography/java/vigenere.html

I try the word above and some anagram of it for key, but i've not fortune.

Maybe is more hard of the past puzzle Twisted Evil

From my post above, "eyvisdirll" are the double letters in Ray's email, the letters immediately preceeding the doubles of "eyvisdirll" spell out "canyouhelp"

I've also been working on it as a vigenere (and other encryption methods) using "canyouhelp" "medialplux", "allmixedup", anagrams etc as keywords but nothing but gibberish... Confused

I was trying to mix up, or unmix the key.. so for example because allmixedup became medialplux , if the key were canyouhelp it would become yheocapnlu or ouecypanlh depending on which way you go..

Tried it with eyvisdirll, canyouhelp, bjchkiefgd, and everything... 2 results for each.. and none worked.. can someone else try it in case I did it wrong?
