I might as well put this in this thread:
I have to use IE for this game because Firefox won't install the Apple plugin. Automatic install fails, and no matter how many times I manually install quicktime on my system, Firefox still says it needs the apple plugin to play the sounds and such.
Can anybody link me to something that will get this working in firefox?

Is your firefox the latest version? Mine plays all the sounds fine with no problems at all.

skilletaudio,
I'm a firefox user and i had the same problem. although manully reinstalling it worked for me. make sure your downloading the newist version. if that dosent work mabey you need a specific older version. i think city of domes is using 6.1. on a side note if you have gotten windows media player to work in FF let me know how.

I also had this problem, but resolved it.
(the above mentioned fix was for Windows Media not QuickTime)
Simply open the QuickTime Player and from the Menu select Edit->Preferences->QuickTime Preferences and select Browser Plug-in from the drop down, click the MIME Settings button and then make sure that the MP3 audio file entry has a checkmark.
It worked for me, so I hope this resolves your issue.

Yay! That fixed the sound.
However, stuff like the text box on the main page and the picture rota in hallucimill look like crap still, because they get scroll bars. *sigh*
