Ok, if we are honestly going to do this as a team, or a group we should sign up one account, and all use that one account. I think it would be a good idea, I mean, we've got some of the brightest people in this community from around the US, who's with me? I'm especially for working as a team, becuase I am totally not 18 yet, but I definetly think this community stands a chance at taking the gold. Well, I actually went and read all the terms and service ageement, and there isn't a single word saying that an account can't be used by more then one person, but technically the prize money isn't 1 milliom, it's actually 50% of the revenue gained from advertising by the end of the game, up to 1 million.

But at any rate...I finally made it to the first room but theres only 2 picture clues revealed.any idea when the others will be revealed? I'm kinda stuck at the moment since I cant download the gameboard on my PC at work. Sad Ah well..this is kinda fun and kills time at work. Hehe

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Okay, I think I figured out the clue for the first picture after Peter Romanov. Everything in the picture has to do with Monopoly, the board game. And, as for the second picture, the only thing I can get out of it is the Statue of Liberty.

Oh, and as for that numerical formula in the second picture... at the very beginning of the game there's a piece of paper that says "x=4"... using that, I got 10 [star] 28 [star] 1872.5, which I can only assume is wrong, but referring to October 8, 1886, when the statue was officially dedicated and unveiled by Bartholdi himself.

Edit: That last section is screwed up somewhere. I'm trying to figure out how to get 1886 from that mess.

Edit: Figured it out. The closing bracket before x/2x needs to move to after x/2x. That makes it 1024 + 512 + (28*12.5), or 1886.

for the equation in the second pic first room using x=4 i got
10 * 28 * 1872.5
don't know if that helps. possibly a date?

mabey it's just me but i don't see away to solve the rooms or houses.

From GameMaster

Hey guys. I saw this post and wanted to respond.

First of all, feel free to group up. There's no problem with that.

As for the formula, here is what I found (based on your other posts):

The formula on the wall is as follows (I'll skip to the last part since no one is worried about the first two):

X^(x+1) + X^(x+1/2) + ( X*(X+3)*(SQR(X)^3 + X) + X/2X )

Now, unless I'm, mistaken, and it's very possible that I am, for that last part, you would do all the multiplication first, then add... which would equate to:

1024 + 512 + 350 = 1886

Also, unless (again), I'm mistaken, the formula is correct at 10 - 28 - 1886. Please let me know if you find otherwise.

Recant...

I stand corrected. After talking to a colleague, we determined that there was a set of () missing from the equation. We have updated the picture to reflect the change.

It should have read:

X^(x+1) + X^(x+1/2) + ( X*(X+3)*((SQR(X)^3 + X) + X/2X ))

Thank you for your help!!

Hello, Gamemaster. This is the first I'm hearing about this, and I will certainly take a more in-depth look soon. The bit with the missing parentheses doesn't bode well for me. Don't take this as anything more than idle curiosity, but are there any credentials for who is setting the puzzles and proofreading them?

Math

Well, since there is nothing left to do for today, I'll add my two cents worth about the math puzzle.

Here is what I came up with for the long answers:

256-64+2*32-4*1024+512+1918

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I did two things: 1) Went from left to right not following the rules of math (which I must admit I forgot about) and got a really large number (6355326). 2) entered the sequence into my calculator (which performs all of the work in the order that it's supposed to be in) and got -1410.

I then took the license plate "number", which came out to be 2100 and subtracted 1410 from 2100 to get 690.

It's in a spoiler, just in case. I know I'm completely off... but that's what I have.
Oh, and just to prove that my brain does not work well in the early morning... I thought the first puzzle answer was "A Mountain". Smile

The original math equation was correct. There was an error when the graphic was created that no one caught (it was so subtle that it was difficult to track down). No offense taken by your asking... very fair and valid question.

Yes, all clues are designed, researched and ultimately approved by three people. This just happened to be a graphic design issue. My apologies if it cost anyone any problems.

Let me know if you have other concerns.

Thanks.

I actually have a concern, and by it I mean no disrespect, so please don't take it that way. Why isn't the finished product up, and what guarantees do we have that this contest will ever be able to be solved if it isn't. A few other games offered a prize and never fixed a broken game (see www.timehunt.com), while still worse another had the same set-up as you (ad revenue goes into the pot) and proceeded to first shut down, then relaunch and put up an impossible to solve non-sensical problem so he could just pocket the ad-revenues and never have to pay the promised prize (see nr.wireplay.co.uk). I honestly don't understand the purpose of putting up a contest in a non-solveable state, other than you want to boost the pot, which is understandable in a sense (since you intend to profit off this as well), but offers absolutely no guarantee that you won't just take the money after a couple of months and run.

In the long run, if its fun and challenging, I'll enjoy playing no matter what, I just really hope their will actually be an ENTIRE game.

No offense taken. I completely understand your concern.

Let me start off by saying that I've heard of this type of "scam" happening before. So, to ease some of your concerns, I will bring this up to the other members and we will put a guaranteed prize in the rules; meaning that someone will win the prize no matter what happens. We just have to work out the literature.

The reason we haven't put up a finished game yet is exactly as you guessed... we want/need to build the pot. The entire game has been story-boarded for more than a year now and we were finally able to launch just last week. In addition, we have already begun scripting Challus 2, so if we "screw" people out of the prize with this game, then we have no chance of bringing people back for another.

Challus is affiliated with Sybonal Business Services (www.sybonal.com), a legitimate web development company in the US. We and Sybonal are both putting our reputations on the line and WILL NOT "take the money and run". So, if there is anything else I can do to ease your concerns, or if there is some type of literature you'd like to see posted, please do not hesitate to ask.

Thanks for playing!!

Here is the problem....

There are a number of problems that exist with running a type of game like this, and why many of them shut down prematurely. In order for you to make any money (and in order for there to be a huge prize pot, like you want to have) people actually have to click on the company link to get their clues. This is where your problem exists. If people open another window and do a google search for the company in question, they can get the answer without even having to click on the company link. This means that you are not credited with the "forwarding" of people to their site. Thus the pot will be small. Unless you have the brilliant notion of a "pay-per-view" system. But most companies won't go for that because there is no guarentee that you even showed their site, even if you tell them that you have. Companies have a weird thing about paying for things without proof of delivery.

Just my two cents... Love the puzzles, by the way.

Thanks for the compliment about the puzzles!!

To answer your question, it is Pay Per View on the ads. We have established advertisers that will pay based on the views to their ad, and pay again for click-thrus.

Hope that puts your mind at ease a bit. More puzzles to come!
