The replacement I bought had the faceplate and everything pre-installed, so it fit in perfectly.

I think he meant when you use a PC drive. Coffee, I think you can remove the faceplate from the old drive and just slap it on the new one. Not sure though ...

i meant either really, i didn't know anyone made replacement xbox drives, i thought they were all just pc drives that people were using
after looking at some pics i see now how the fascia could be swapped, interesting.
does the faster dvd-rom make a noticeable difference in load times and such? if so, Krystyn's brother might be getting a better-than-new console

I don't think there are any 'official' replacement drives for sale. My best guess is that most for sale on Ebay and such are salvaged from otherwise broken consoles. I've also seen custom jobs for sale, which seem to the be slightly modded PC versions.

I haven't noticed any difference in the load times, but then again my replacement was a 'real' Xbox drive and not a customized PC component.

Yep. I know llamma buys broken xboxes, since a friend of mine, was thinking about selling his thomson-xbox to them.

We're only going to say this once, so listen carefully, and if you're using hacks, or know anyone who's using them, pay close attention. Every time you show up on Live with a hacked map, hacked save or other exploit, we not only know about it, it lights up our system like a pinball machine. We were almost tempted to print gamertags as examples. Right now, we are taking very, very serious measures to end it. They will be severe measures, and they will be global. That's all we're going to say about it. So now's the time to stop doing it. We are not kidding, and we are not bluffing. The reason the new measures have not been implemented so far is the same reason as ever - testing. This was your last and only warning.

i was going to say this was off topic. but what is on topic on this board. anyway i just wanted to post the stats for this game because it was probably the best game ive ever playd

http://www.bungie.net/Stats/GameStats.aspx?panel=kills&gameid=209245402&player=loismustdie68

i played for about 2 hrs earlier today when no one was on, and went up 9 levels in rumple pit. i was on a killing streak. even my brother (evil anti-lois) came in and was like "what did you do with my brother"

when he came in i had just gotten a triple kill to end that game. against a guy with an oversheild and plasma battle combo, a guy with a shotgun, and some poor guy coming up the ramp. i started to shoot the guy with the shot gun, he kiled my shields i killed him to come face to face with a plasma pistol wielding overshield guy, i somhow managed to kill him using the other guys shotgun, and then started walking down the ramp toward sniper and shotgunned someother guy in the face. all this happening withit 12 seconds. i thought it was amazing lol.

i dont do stuff like that much so i figured a little gloating was in order.

so yea...thats nice

Ahhh, the typos, they burn the eyes of The Poet!!! Wink
Tonight was extremely fun playing with everyone, then we played a team training game, with a couple of guys who are pretty prominent at HBO, which is the number one halo fan site since Halo was announced for the Mac. It was an utter disappointment, the three guys, Kp, Goatrope, and retsomolah made it seem worse then playing a regular matchmaking game the way they were acting. After that, I think I'm done even reading the forums up at Hbo, and I posted a nice long "Goodbye guys, and Kp, why are you an asshole?" post at the forums, but I'm still pissed about the way they acted. These guys should not be acting this way considering how respected they are in the community, or that's saying something about the place, that assholes like them, are actually respected. Sad
Edit- Done venting, maybe I assumed too much, because about 2 minutes after I posted that, i got about 15 replys from people in the community, and then a couple nice big long apoligies from all four of those guys.

They were just irritating me because they just kept mocking the same things, over and over again. It wasn't even like they were particularly rude or disgusting, just -really boring- with their insults.

It's nice that you got apologies, though!

I do have to admit, sometimes I cringe when I hear some of us saying stuff that could be construed as being a jerk, because even though -we- know we're kidding, or that a particular reference is being made, or the context is from 4 games ago, the other team doesn't know all that, and so I am sure we've come off as being arrogant meanies a bunch of times, too.

Like those poor dudes with the Canadian gamertags. I still feel badly about that, even though I did not contribute at all.

Think about it, though: every time you yell or sneer at someone, think about when you've had it done to you. What's the first thing you do when you go to the players list and start giving feedback? Oh, that's right: you give it to their whole team, right?

So I am beginning to wonder now what sort of bad feedback I've gotten just because one or two of our people just had to yell or try to smacktalk back at the other guys, and it got out of hand. Y'know?

Ah the canadien gamertags, aye? Embarassed I just couldn't resist saying that, but it's not like they got that much abuse. I think that's the only thing anyone said anywhere in earshot of them was in that post game lobby. I jyust resist cuz I just saw that movie the other day, the one about the beer company, and the crazy hockey players. "I love Elsinor beer aye!" Laughing
Anyways, apperantly most of the flack that we got was directed to their own team actually. It's just unfortunate that I was already pissed about dealing with assholes in matchmaking and took basically everything they said out of context. The same way I yell at mutant or lois, or Jinx yelling at someone "Nobody likes you!" at someone on our team. I logged on this morning about 15 minutes ago and apperantly I had been sent a friend request by all four of those guys, maybe I'll try a game or two with them, seeing as how I got about 50 posts this morning from various members of the forum apoligizing and other things. At least it's good to know that they don't like to be thought bad of.
Oh and for any of you who loved Sin City, like me, There's a group of guys at High Impact Halo who are remaking it into a machinama, and the trailer looks really really good!

That was me, Tiny, I don't know why it signed me in as a guest...

25 kills, in 2:24, with only 3 deaths, 2 triple kills and a rampage. With 48% hit percentage.
Not a bad game if I do say so myself.

For those who were asking about the Freeze Tag video that Zorplex made a while back, I have it sitting here.

Enjoy! Hee hee.

Good stuff!

Makes me miss a bunch of those people who haven't signed on in a while though.
