Perplex City Subway Puzzle/Ad

So I happened upon an article at MetaFilter that is about strange and fun ads in the London Underground cataloged at a website. Of course, the Perplex City Subway talk recently caused this to catch my eye....and whaddya know, there's one listed for Perplex City:

My answer to number 2:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
it is Metropolitan, though my answers were Mansion House, Preston Road, Poplar, Victoria, and Monument.

And I failed completely to notice that the

It's definetely Monument, there's no station called Cenitaph.
All the others look right as well.

Explanation of the cryptic clues, if anyone's curious/frustrated. Not that they're difficult:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
a) 'Ruined' indicates an anagram/jumble in the clue. 'Heinous mason' = 'Mansion House,' which is hinted at by 'abode.'

b) 'Sounds like' indicates..well, you get it. 'Pushed into the street' = 'Pressed in/on road' = Preston Road.

c) 'Well-liked' = Popular = Poplar, hinted at by 'yew tree.'

d) 'She' = feminine, 'falls' = waterfall, located (partly) in Zimbabwe = Victoria Falls.

e) A little odd. 'The hill' = the French 'Mont,' with the 'foe within' as 'N-U-ME,' ie, enemy. Monument = 'place of remembrance.'

Has anyone solved the hyrogliphs in the background yet?

I'm wondering what the significance of the Paris station is. It wasn't exactly a stretch to figure out it was a Metro station (might have been more difficult if it wasn't for all the French names) and finding it on a map was also easy. Hardly likely to sharpen your brain on the way to work. I'm just hoping that maybe there's more to this puzzle:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The Fish says Varenne means 'Game preserve'. Does anyone see any pattern to this and the other answers, which, to save you scrolling up were:
2. Mansion House, Preston Road, Poplar, Victoria, and Monument all on the Metropolitan line.
3. See the puzzle card. I thought the colours might have some relevance too; red is the Central line, yellow is the Circle line, green is the District line and navy blue is the Picadilly line in London.
4. St. John's Wood

Or maybe I should go read my sig for a couple of hours......

EDIT - the stations aren't all on the same line at all (as I discovered when I highlighted the relevant stations - see my later post in this thread).

I am not sure whether or not this one is easier to read, but I thought I would include it just in case:

If you can not read your version more easily, you must be blind. Shocked

Ignore my other post.

hieroglyphs

This site might help to decipher the hieroglyphs.
So far, I have found that the first two symbols are the word "the". (Big deal, right?)
Check out the translations of the words under, city, love/desire/wish, palace, sovereign (two crocs), and garden. They all seem to be in this puzzle.

Calling our hieroglyphs card translator. Help!
