No, No I take it all back. On closer inspection there maybe something in the TV/DVD.

I've looked through the Action Script and found code that looks to be refering to certain actions ("choosedvd", "showTv", "playTv" and "closeTV") There is also a case for "replayVideo"

From what I can gather another part of the action script looks to be calling some form of streaming video that doesn't get preloaded at startup, I may be wrong so again I've copied the whole action script from the SWF file for people to look at as I'm not that clued up when it comes to this stuff.

Maybe we have to unlock the TV/DVD like we did with the photo on the desk before we can view it.

TV Hotspot Activation

Possibly another phrase/password/number, previously unused within the game, should be input into the door guarded by the password in thehidingroom website.

yeah i think porkchop may have a point regarding the tv/dvd.

but from what i can understand from the script there can only be 2 answers to the mezzanine door, the one that unlocks the photo, and the 'try harder' one for everything else.
having said that, im not good with this sort of stuff.

this bit?

case "choosedvd":
{
_l5 = this.pInstance.attachMovieWithClass("InvisibleButton", "choosetv", 50, {_parentClass: this, pButtonid: "showTv"}, PressButtonClass);
_l5.ApplyParams(_global.HSParamObject.showTv.params);
_global.gDynamicObjectClass.AppendObject("Overlay", _l5);
_l5 = this.pInstance.attachMovieWithClass("CloseButton", "closebutton", 51, {_parentClass: this, pButtonid: "forceexit", pLabel: "CloseDVD"}, PressButtonClass);
_l5.ApplyParams(_global.HSParamObject.close.params);
_global.gDynamicObjectClass.AppendObject("Overlay", _l5);
break;
}
case "showTv":
{
_global.gVideoPlayBackObject.AttachInstance("showTv", this, 2, "NewEvent");
break;
}
case "playTv":

i think this is definitely saying that the dvd shelf is a hotpsot!! once you click on the dvd shelf a new invisible button appears, which should allow us to 'choosetv'.

if you use the firefox browser, hotspots show up when you click around.... the WHOLE DVD SHELF is a hotspot.

something must happen in order to show the tv

using mozilla.... when you click on the dvd's in the shelf the "highlighter" on the browser lights up.... it does this whenever you click a hotspot or highlight some text.

I haven't got time to check (work!! bah!!) but is one of the films the Wicker Man.

I just remembered that Jon was recommended this from the Stella film finder.

I'll have a look later too

Yep Meak that's the bit.

From what I can gather this section lists the cases that can happen when you click the hotspots. In this instance the case "choosedvd" is an invisible button which calls "choosetv" not "hotspotbutton" this is why we can't roll over it with the mouse pointer.

When we are able to click this it should call case "showTv" which calls the next case as a new event, this being "playTv"

This then looks to be running some form of Video as it has a new VideoPlaybackClass attached to it, what the next line is that refers to"TvVideo" is i'm not sure.

_global.gTvVideoObject.Init(_root, "TvVideo", "TvVideo", 30, {_x: 80, _y: 20});
_global.gTvVideoObject.AttachInstance("TvVideo", this, 3, "NewEvent");

But there is also "replayButton" which calls "replayVideo" and "closeButton" which calls "closeTv" but we see the close button in the top right corner all the time.

Further down the code is the video playback class from this you can find the url where all the videos are stored, this line of code shows that you just need to alter the videoid in each case.

this.netStream.play("newvideos/Video_" + videoid + ".flv");

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

http://www.thehidingroom.com/newvideos/Video_0_0_0.flv

I've not been able to find the TvVideo yet though, but all the rest are there to download from the website as opposed to being preloaded by the game.

I can't really find much more info as all the killer stuff will be held server side so we can't cheat. Very Happy

Yeah, I have a proxy program on my computer and saw the browser preloading those URLs, but all of them are just the transitions when you move. I tried using number combinations that it didn't use, but there wasn't anything else.

maybe we need to 'do' something before we can see what's on the TV

things become clear in black and white....

sometimes hidden messages appear when you de-saturate images... wild guess

"Things become clear in black & white" - wasn't that just a clue leading us to click on the photo once we'd entered the password for the mezzanine door?

A bit of speculation here...

If Jon has no contract, maybe there IS no solution to the symbols puzzle. After all, the worth of a thing is what it will bring, so there should be no right or wrong answers to what the worths of the symbols are.

Perhaps the answer is that there is no answer. You can't put a value on a soul, they're just "reassuringly expensive".

With three days to go before the closing date, the answer doesn't seem to be any closer.

Not sure if this has been but could it be we just need to count the 'signs' in the ad of the office and then order them? Only thing I cannot figure is what would make one 'sign' higher or lower in order to another?

You would need to do it accross 3 ads. Also it seems that 'supreme quailty and worth' is Stella's positioning... I thought it might be the way to score the signs but cannot figure it.
