Or has already gotten a number of strange IMs from people believing him to be involved with the game and is trying to tell them to stop?

Then why would he mention security? I mean, come on, he could have just said "STOP BOTHERING ME!", instead of trying to be clever at witty. I'm just throwing around ideas here.... Very Happy

Wh00t! I JUST got my call, I was recording it, but it cut out after 45 seconds, sadly. here's whatI can remember:

Charlie3: Hello, this is Charlie3 from the Sandman Recruitment facility, could I please speak to Andar7?

Me: (OMFGOMFGOMFGMYFIRST CALL AHHHHHH!)

Yes, speaking, could you hold on just for a second please?

*Fumbles pants fly, (these guys DO call you at the most innapropriate times!), brings up ROC text file, hits record on phone*

That's it, okay, yup!

Charlie3: Uhh, you filled out an SRI application not long ago?

Me: Yup.

Charlie3: Umm, well, the reason I'm calling you is because I work for the declination office, and I handle SRI applications that have been
red flagged (he emphasised this) by sandman headquarters.

Me: (Aww, crap, I'm not gonna be a sandman! Damnit!) ...yes. -_-

Charlie3: What that means is that for soem reason, your application is not gonna be proccessed for several reasons, this could be, um, inaquious (I think) contacts within the city, or, behaiviours in the city of domes, or a run-in with possible sandmen before, have you ever had any of those?

Me: A Run-in with a possible Sandman? Well, A sandman saved my life at one point from a runner, but I don't exactly believe thatwould have anything to do with it?

At this point the recording ended and iv'e forgtten most of it.. he semi-corrected himself (I believe he meant a runin with a possible runner) and went on to explain about how my marks were so high, that he'd be willing to give my application a Gold Star (OMFG) and resubmit it for processing if I'd be willing to answer a few questions? I said sure, and along came the questions:

A Sandman Should Never hunt for...?

What is the proper Abbreviation for "Maximise Final Impact"?

The Leader of the sandmen has 2 Stickmen that are only to be used by him at all times. who are they? (ABSOLUTE OUT THERE SPEC: COBY3 AND EILEEN5! Razz)

What is the most partners a Sandman should have? (I replaied Eight, of course but then remarked I usually had three. I could SWEAR he hit the mute button on his laughter, the pause was unusually long there. he then said that Sandmen really should keep their energy reserves at their maximum.. Razz)

What is the name of the Crouch that all sandmen must perform?
(I was ready to crouch, but he didn't ask me to, sadly..)

He then said that things looked in tip shape, and that he would take off the red flag, stick a gold star on instead (I feel SO 1337) and resubmit it for processing again.

He then asked if I had any questions:
I Remarked that I had been thinking about becoming a sandman for quite a while, but it was a citizen by the name of Coby3 who made me submit my application. after a long pause (probably consuling with the PMs) he said that SMHQ DOES send out civillian requiters on occasion, but he hadn't heard fo Coby3. in fact, it may have been coby3 that got my application red flagged in the first place! (My reply: "Oh dear.." Razz)

He then thanked me for my time, and ended the call. (the noise on the line faded out smoothly, like it was layered on, before the call ended..)

from this I determine 2 things:

1: I'm gonna be a saaandman! (gold stars rock man)
and 2: This. Game. ROCKS.

No call yet

I've not yet gotten the call and my friends and wife are having way too much fun at my expense. I got the Recruit interface email right before leaving work to go on vacation for Father's day weekend. I solved most of the puzzles on the way up North and my Mother in law helped me with the last two, as well as a hint from blaqueice. I didn't take the recruiting exam until I got back, so I assume that is why I haven't been contacted, I am just down in the pile.
But I have been dragging my cell phone with me everywhere waiting for the call. I get no reception at work until 4:00 pm when I can leave, but I was at my wife's softball game and I get a call:
"This is the Sandman calling?"
"What?"
"The password is placeville" then he bursts out snickering. I see one of my buddies hiding behind the dugout with his cell phone.
Sheesh, I hope they call soon so I can stop geeking out. Rolling Eyes

Well, I'd gotten a call from Michael last week, but it was in my voicemail and I'd forgotten to check it. Luckily, earlier today Charlie3 phoned my up and did the quiz thing. Was it just me or does he take oddly long pauses? I felt almost like I was listening to a machine recording. In any case, nothing special happened. I hope I passed!

I think he is trying to follow a script he was given. Could be actual interruptions at his 1) place of RL employement, 2) home, 3) dorm room.

He doesn't do very well when we try to deviate from the script.

He asked someone to "demonstrate" the crouch??? Bet he was drinking when he thought of that. Any more calls from Andrew?

Kona, you seem to be reccently of the opinion that this is a grassroots/single PM game.
What all has led you to this?

Not necessarily single PM, but that maybe the earlier incident with Eileen5 was a coverup for an error in the release of a puzzle that should not have been seen until the game was ready to have Runners. Virtuquest hasn't made those kind of errors in the past (course there is always a first time). And there are a number of players who swear they have never given any information to VQ. So I was wondering if this is a collaboration of some previous PMs.

Dia once taught me that to understand the puzzle/game, you have to know your PM (s)...and if you know your PM, you may have an easier time figuring out the less obvious puzzles.

If this is VQ, then think back to previous "open" games. To many of us it started out feeling like THX (course, we thought then it might have been a publicity stunt to promote the remake of the movie, but that is probably a dead spec)....but if it is VQ, then we have to think about how THX played. But what if it's the same group that gave us Metacortech (shhh, they are watching), also loosely based on a popular movie that had so many movie fans fooled they jumped in feet first (excellent job) - this is another experienced ARG group and not typical for them to make errors). If there is more than one person behind this, they have enlisted help/actors for voice roles it seems. I like the spec that DC is our conduit to help out with technical issues, but the big boss will be Mother Computer out of SMHQ.

And, again, I'm still convinced there is a hidden message in the ROC that we haven't seen yet, and the PMs are stalling, waiting for us to unlock this message/key/website. But that is just spec.

I've read the through the ROC 1.6 billion times and I can't see anything that relates to anything else. If there is something there, then we need to pry some info from DC or something to try to solve this thing. I thought that since we were getting the calls that this thing was blowing up, but you're right kona...they do seem to be stalling. I'll study the ROC again and see if I can find anything, but I'm dumb so I'll prolly just miss it again.

Bliss.

Crap, I knew they were going to do calls while I was out in the middle of no man's land with no cell phone coverage or internet access for days. I just returned to the real world and up popped a voice mail they left me yesterday.

SMHQ if you're listening, I'm available from now on, although not a morning person. Coherent answers may only be given after my first cup of coffee. Smile

Still not had a call here in the UK.

I see a couple have, I hope they will still make me a Sandman even if they don't call Sad

I don't think they care too much about if you are a morning person. I got my call last night at 11:30. It woke me out of a deep sleep. Hmm, deep sleep, sandman. Anyway I was barely coherent. I couldn't think straight and kept calling him Sir! Toward the end Charlie3 even started to mimic my clipped answers. It was pretty funny. He had me do the crouch. I was so sleep fogged I must have been very suggestible, and I was taking it all so serious and kept saying yes sir, yes sir.
"Are your elbows tucked in?"
"Yes sir! Just above my knees!"
I didn't get the whole top 1% thing. The first thing he asked me was if I had any idea why I was on the redlist. At that moment I didn't have any idea period. I didn't have any idea why I was talking on the phone at 11:30 at night. I didn't have any idea why I had been so anxious to get a call from a fictitious person, or why I should endure the pranks from friends and family for a game, and for that matter I still don't have an idea why being mocked and woken late at night is so fun!
I told him "No sir I do not!" I think that set the tone for all the Sirs.
Of course after the interview I went back to bed and just lay there, wide awake, grinning at the ceiling.
I had wanted to ask him something though. When I filled out the questionaire in the SRI interface I put my email address in the circuit net mail space. I thought that was weird since Deepsleep already had that address. Did y'all put in your email adresses there or your physical addresses?

Email...since DC had asked for your net-circuit mail identity and it was your email address when we first got our login for CoD. I think you did the right thing and I believe everyone else did it as well.

Bliss.

Yes, we all gave our email addresses as far as I know.

The only time I have given out my Mailing Address was when Coby3 asked for our ACTUAL location in his message to us.
